Exclamation Gauges

I got these reverse gauges, got the gauge pod disassembled and now I am faced with trying to get the old guages out, I can't figure out how to get the needle off without damaging something.

dont remove the needles. its very very bad.

dont taek the old faces off.

just try to bend the new ones (without creasing them) and you would be able to slip them over the needles.

its a pain in the bum.

Post Now I need to power to them

Ok...got the new guages on over the old ones...took out the bulbs from behind the gauges and now I can't figure out where to hook up the power too. The exposed wire and the opposing wire with the terminal end is in no way long enough to reach the battery and I am again at a loss.

We got sold a bill of goods, and got way overcharged for the quality of the white gauge faces we did a GB on, and the company that made them tried to liquidate the rest of their stock on Ebay. They were just vinyl stickers with cutouts, but for the astute, putting a white sticker over a black face with white lettering doesn't work too well. So they made the cutouts bigger, so you got an outline effect. No km/h inner ring, no steps between 50 and 60 IIRC (they just cut out the big ones).

Argh.

Anyways, yeah, the offerings for dash stuff puzzles me. They make Indiglos for 95-96 legacies, but nothing else, they make aluminum masks for BC's and BF's and nothing else.

Seems like the prime part of the market would be the BD/BG L's and GT's, there's more of them, they're more likely to be modded then the earlier cars, and they're not still being produced like BE's.

eh, who knows

As for wiring, get under the dash with a test light, and find something that gives power when the parking lights come on. Try removing the cowl around the steering column, and poking around near the headlight switch. Trace a wire back down to where there's room, then use a vampire tap to hook it up. Ground it by shooting a self tapper into the frame above the fusebox, or somewhere in that area.

you can get a red paint pen and paint the needles red. i installed a set of these in my friends honda (free beer), and he had to paint his red. it turned out pretty well.
