Default 13.486 Mostly stock WRX

Ran my personal best at the track last night. I am pretty excited because I am currently the fastest 2.0 WRX in this area with far less mods. My best run of the night was:
RT .368
60' 1.952 (can improve)
330' 5.552
1/8th 8.608 @ 81.08
1000' 11.158
1/4th 13.468 @ 99.68

My only mods are HKS downpipe, HKS uppipe, HKS cat-back, Apexi AVC-R (that I can't figure out how to set) set at 1.15 bar, and Blitz FMIC. Stock rims, tires, suspension, block, ECU, turbo, transmission, clutch, shifter, and on 91 Octane fuel with no octane boost or race gas added. No nitrous was used either.

What was the temperature? what was the altitude?

The FMIC that you have should make your turbo drop a couple of pounds, how are you getting this great times with the stock turbo?

I live in Omaha, NE so I am not sure what the altitude is. Last night it was about 50 degrees outside.

Truthfully I think I just got a runner out of the factory. My stock TD04 seems like it pushes as much power as people around here with upgraded fuel systems and upgraded turbos. I have beaten a 02 WRX with a Utec tuned to stage 4 with all supporting mods on the street.
If you are doubting my times I will surely take a pic of the time slip and a pic of my car how it sits with the #'s still on the car.

I guess it is mostly stock compared to other WRX's around here. Exhaust, boost controller and FMIC.

exhaust and ebc == mostly stock to me

after youve seen a few hundred heavily modified cars, exhaust only == stock

I partly agree.. The thing is when you spend 1100 for exhaust,1k for fmic,200 for uppipe,500 for avcr.. That is almost 3k in mods and has accomplished what others have done for 200-500.. I am in no way taking away from your time since it is still a decent time but i really dont think you are near stock..

Nice runs man. that thing pulls like a bear on the top end compared to my car.

my car has no top end

mods were MBC, air filter, and fuel.

Stock exhaust from motor to tailpipe.

Good run, but I dont see that as mostly stock either.

Now had it been with the stock intercooler,... I would have probably went along with that notion...

BUT, upgrading the intercooler (top or front) is good for some substantial gains.... and for a frontmount, not a mere bolt on upgrade.

Keep in mind as soon as people "see" a frontmount whether in type or in person, "mostly stock" is the last thing they think.

FYI- with just and EBC I ran 13.7s @ 98mph, stock boost.

Good luck... and get some engine management! Then you'll break 100 mph EASY.

Saying that the car is "mostly stock" is a little misleading. It is like when your girlfriend tells you she is a "little pregnant".

I wouldnt exactly call those 'great' times with a stock turbo ... now a days if its not 13 flat or lower...it isnt that great (with a TD04 )

** REQUEST by the thread poster

can you give us an indication of what the boost is like with the front mount and the stocker?

With the FMIC compared to the factory top mount I would say it pulls harder top end, but loses alot of torque. With the front mount it made launching harder to figure out, and it killed my 60' times. Boost takes alot more time to build. All in all I would say it gave me a few MPH top end, but I would probably be able to run a lower 1/4 mile time the 1.8's I used to run with stock top mount.

With the few mods I have the car does not look stock, but with factory turbo the FMIC is probably hurting me. If I could figure out where to set this AVCR and a better launch this car is capable of 13.1 or 13.2. I guess I get one more chance at it next weekend before the tracks around here close down for the season.

you should be closer to the 12s with that set up

I had just about the same mods on my WRX and ran in the 12s

I now have turbo back exhaust MBC and a CAI on my STI and it's faster than my WRX woo hoo

sorry read you post wrong
those time are about right with the set up

the FMIC is most likely hurting you at this point with stock turbo and no fuel mangement

It would have been great to have our 2 runs side by side to see how you pull on me low RPM's, but I catch right back up higher in the gear.

I think you'd gain some mph with UTEC where you can have control of the timing and do some fuel tuning. Good runs though, pretty good for only a 1.9 60'

My version of "mostly stock" means still having at least 1 factory cat in the exhaust. From looking at some of the people's times on this list though, I should drop almost 2/10ths in the 1/8th mile when I put on my uppipe/downpipe combo in the next week or so.

although those times are nice for what you have done, i dont believe that your car is mostly stock.

you've changed all the exhaust piping except the headers, fmic and ebc. mostly stock is like a dp, or a panel filter w/ mbc....

regaurdless, nice times

If it isn't a 13.0 or quicker it isn't that great with the stock turbo? You can count the number of people that have ran a 12.9 or better on a stock turbo wrx without nitrous on one hand, it's not that easy. I've been trying for 2 yrs. to do it with a full interior and even with a 1.76 60' and a 103+ trap i can't break 12s

Utec is in today. If weather holds I will have one more opportunity to get the magic 12 timeslip with some tuning today and a good run tomorrow. This will probably be my last attempt at a 12 with stock turbo because winter plans go into effect as of the last day the track is open.
