Exclamation Something burning?

uh ohh....my 2001 RS has maybe 150 miles on it (not 150,000)...150...and when i put her in park and get out...it smells like somethings burning..i thought it was the brakes or the tires...but when i drove conservatively, the same thing happened.

i'm getting her checked out by the dealer but thats in like a week or 2.. any suggestions?

All new cars smell like that. It is the muffler that is getting "burned in" and any overspray or undercoat spray being burned by the exhaust.

Cool

That's Cosmoline, an anti corrosion coat on your engine(for protection during shipping from Japan). Everyone had that burning smell during the first weeks. Don't worry, it goes away after a while. Dealers should really tell one about that.
Happy motoring!

We had that problem when RandyF bought his 2000 GT Wagon. It is your cosmoline (engine preservative) burning off. It will go away after you drive it a couple of months.

Good luck with the new car I just bought my 2000 RS last Thursday.

Mine did the same thing for a while... Believe that it is residual coatings or some oil dripped on the header during manufacture. I think most here will say the same thing...

Cosmoline gets smeared over the whole car... it's a real bastage to get off of the glass. Mine stinks too... like I'm roasting the brakes/clutch, but I'm not.

Swivell-

The Rotten egg/ sulfur-like smell is comming from one or both of your CC's. If you drive your car particularly hard you will get that smell. I still get it on my '99 when I drive it hard.
