After owning my car for two years, finally went to the drag strip for the first time! I was very, very nervous my first run as I didn't really know what to expect, I ended up over-staging and just giving it an 80% go. Only got in 2 more runs because it was bracket racing and not a test and tune, but got my best time of the night on my last run.

Was wondering if y'all could point me in the right direction about improving, I know experience is the big key, but it's obvious my 60' isn't great, and neither is my RT. I don't know the exact conditions, but I'm in central Florida, so very hot, and very humid as they were calling for rain, so the conditions were about as bad as they could be. My car is an '05 WRX, totally stock, I removed the spare tire and jack. I wanted to put up a competitive run, but not totally kill my clutch, as I drive it every day and it's obviously not going to be turned into a drag car . Any tips, pointers, whatever would be helpful!

Car 30 btw

(US)Jonathan Street - Andrewtech built motor, T3/T04S, supporting mods. No meth, nitrous, etc. All boost.

60' - 1.836
330' - 4.962
1/8 - 7.475
MPH - 95.67
1000' - 9.657
1/4 - 11.469
MPH - 126.16

As you can see from the 60' and 1/8th mile time, there's way more in the car, and a lot of that has to do with the stock suspension, 05 gearset, the REALLY crappy all-season tires on there right now, and me driving. I think it has an 11.2 if not a hair faster in it as it sets right now other than better tires.

You have the exact same car as I do, and my very first run was 15.7 with MAJOR bog down at the line. My best run that night was 14.97 (after 3 runs). The next week I got 8 runs, and I worked my time down to 14.6. I didn't bother removing my spare tire or jack, or even my subwoofer and amp. The weather on my passes was in the 50's and humidity was pretty low, so the cool evening air really helped. The humidity could be some of why you're running a little slower, but from what I've discovered, it's all about the launch. It's a delicate balance of slip/dump from the line. I bounced my revs a little bit between 3500 and 4500 while waiting for green. As far as RT goes, my friends who drag all the time suggested this: As soon as you see the 3rd amber, GO! By the time you actually start moving, the green will be there. My RT's are usually under .200 all the time, and you see my best run below has RT of .095, my best being 0.002 (in a 07 scion tC manual)

DIAL - 14.61
R/T - .095
60' - 2.102
330 - 6.043
1/8 - 9.355
MPH - 74.40
1000 - 12.190
1/4 - 14.607
MPH - 92.16

Considering the car is 100% stock, I'm not complaining about 14.6, since C&D says 14.4...

Some of you fellas have some frigging FAST Subies!

I have a '06 Baja Sport and have owned three previous Subarus, but never thought of them as performance cars, more as versatile, reliable transportation.

I'm impressed!

The tranny is the only thing left in the drivetrain that is stock. Knock on wood, it's held up fine so far. I have a list of the major mods and some pics on my web site.

That's awesome. I just went to the track here in Montgomery last night and the best time I pulled was also a 13.8. I was not expecting to break into the 13's with just the gabedude Stage 1 (r29) and an axle back. I was Pleasantly surprised.

Ran my 06 TR last Friday at the track for the first time. It is stock except for a Cobb stage 1 map. I have no way to scan the slip but I ran a 13.95 @ 96.06, 8.87 1/8 with a 1.96 60' on my first pass. Ran a few more 13.9X runs and finally got my 60' down to a 1.88 on my last run but missed a gear so probably would have got the 13.8 that I wanted, but oh well. Stage 2 next week anyway so who cares. I just need more practice.
