It was awesome. A field of 96 entrants I heard, and I had the fastest time in a Legacy in any class!
![]() Of course, I had the only Legacy there. ![]() OTOH I showed that the Legacy wasn't to be ignored, turning in raw times that beat many WRX's! My PAX time put me in 39th place overall. A very typical conversation went like this:them: Is that your Legacy? me: Sure is. them: Very nice. What year is it? me: It's a '97. They sure made them nice then. them: Yeah, they sure did. How was your time? me: My best was 48.603 them: You're kidding! That's a great time. ![]() Mods, putting me in STS, are Cusco adjustable rear swaybar (set at 21mm), and front and rear Cusco oval strut tower braces. I was running on Falken Azenis Sports inflated to 43psi front, 41psi rear. It was just about perfect. In the STS class of 13 I ranked 7th, with at least 4 of the people ahead of me (e.g. Opie) being much more experienced autocrossers. I was 4.5 seconds off the 1st place STS. The car ran very well with the only problem being the loose nut behind the wheel (me). I had consistent major problems with 2 of the turns which accounted for a good 2 or maybe even 3 seconds (I blew them that badly). I need to get some instruction and more experience (this was only my 4th autoX) to improve.I also want to do more to the car (suspension, at least) as I learn more about handling it while still staying in STS. I'd encourage all Legacy owners to get out to an autocross day run by your local SCCA or some other group and find out what our cars can do. You might be amazed! At the very least you'll have a great time and learn more about about your car and drving abilities. -- Bill Flowers Clearwater, FL

I had the 2nd best time in a Legacy at the Laurens event... Out of 2 Legacys. I don't feel bad, 'cuz the other Leg was Pleiades, and he has a really awesome car. He made it into the superstar challenge.

Great job guys.
Wish I had more time for stuff like this. Make them work for their trophies. I will admit, it really gets them when a WAGON is doing well. ![]() |

hehe.... I was off whoring in an STI (two different ones actually). That was CCR-SCCA's former Autcross Chairman, the guy who showed up in the Audi TT and worked in the grid most of the day. My fiance was also driving it that day. They both found out how to spin the car quite well aparently. lol.... |

I just got back from today's event out here in Hawaii. At the last event I was 4th in SM, shoulda/woulda/coulda been 1st but I just picked up a cone on my last run.
Well, today didn't start out well. First run was fast, but I had two cones. Second run I got off to a bad start, messed up one section, then got carried away and blew right by a slalom! I honestly can't even think of the last time I went off course like that - I'm not sure I've ever done that. Anyway, third run was like the first - fast, but two cones. So, down to my last run... and I pulled off a clean run. The guy who took first in SM at the last event (WRX sedan, on TEINs I think) ran after me and was 1/10 slower, so I took first in SM. I was 4th fastest overall. The events here in Hawaii are run on a road course that is coned off to change it up. Needless to say, the course design is pretty limited - lots of slaloms and slalom-type sections. By the next event I'll have my Koni/GC/Noltec suspension installed, which I think will make a huge difference due to the way the courses are designed. We shall see... Atta Kid, you guys are studs. I wish I had time to do things like that but with work and school and what not i have little time for anything, it's even a surprise that my car as much attention as it does.
Maybe one day I'll get out to PIR and do a few laps and do a little but of agricultural excursions in the corners ![]() |

WAy to go guys!!
![]() FWIW I took 5th in STS at the last autocross at FedEx field in D.C....that's the fastest Soob in class that day (thanks to the no-show of a couple very good 2.5RS's ). Still, I am pretty pleased. Of course, the car is great between the cones now but a bit punishing as a daily driver. That STi V5/H&R combo is unforgiving on city streets. Maybe a bit too much, as I worry about rattling the car itself too much. |

subyluvr2212: That's a shame. I could have used some company.
