Default 04 WRX Dash Lighting

I would like to change the color of my dash lighting to blue. I found a shop that has different colored bulbs, but they didn't know what size was needed for the MY04 WRX.

Does anyone know which size bulb?

And

Does anyone know how to change it? (ala accessing the dash and changing the bulb)

Regards...

I tried to do this today on my 04 WRX. I ordered red bulb condoms from partsexpress.com and finally got around to doing the install today. But when I took apart the cluster the bulbs didn't have condoms on them. I guess for the 04's they use a layer of green film to give the green light effect. I'm trying to decide if I want to try to scrape it off or not. But it did piss me off to take the whole thing apart to find out that they changed the design from the 02/03 models.

Justin.

Wink Light Mods..

I live in San Francisco and went to Japan Town last night. They have a mod shop in the Japan Town mall. The sales person showed me a variety of bulbs (not bulb condoms), but he said that they are for the 02/03 and he believes that the bulb size has changed. I asked him about the bulb condoms, but while he spoke English well - I think something may still have gotten lost in the translation. He smiled when I said condoms and I don't think that he knew what I was talking about.

I will check around some more, but if anyone knows anything about this - it would be a big help.

Regards...

Default Only the Cluster

Hey FryRice,

I live over near Golden Gate Park on Cole St. I go over to J Town a lot for udon and a movie at the Kabuki.

I went to the store inside the mall (east side - next to the Stereo Shop). I only asked for the Cluster Bulb. He showed me a couple of bulbs and then asked what year WRX. I told him the 04 and he said that they might be different bulbs. I then asked about the bulb condoms. He just looked at me funny. I said thanks and left. He was trying to be helpful, but my Japanese is pretty bad (actually REALLY bad).

Do you have any recommedations for WRX shops around here?

Regards....

Default WRX and Japan Town

I have an 04 WRX and the guy seems to think that the bulbs have changed from the 02/03. He didn't have any 04 stuff.

Side note: I only go to that Udon place in JT. For Sushi I like Blowfish and Grandehos (which is in my hood).

Are you going to any of the track days?

Default Been vs. On

Well, I have BEEN to many race tracks to watch all kinds of races from F1 to LeMans. I am a huge fan of the WRC, F1, and SportsCar racing. I would have to say that LeMans was one of the best times I have ever had at a race track.
I am not a fan of NASCAR and I have never been to a NASCAR race.

I have only driven at Seabring. I have done laps at a few go-kart tracks too. hee hee

In both cases I drove someones elses Porsche 911. Didn't drive really fast or push it, but I did drive plenty fast for me. When it's not your car then you tend to baby it. Not to mention I was a little nervous.

My sister's husband races 911s, also one of my clients races.

My wife and I are planing to do the Skip Barber race school together.

Oh, I almost got a ride in a LOLA T-70 and Porsche 917 at a historic race. I did sit in them, but unfortunatly never got to ride in them. Maybe next time.

My dream is to take my WRX (or rent a Porsche) and drive the Targa Floria route. My wife and I are hoping to either do Spa or Monoco next year, if we do Spa I will go early and drive the circut when it is open. Maybe we can fit a trip to the Targa. Wonder if they rent WRXs?

Default Driving School and racing

I have never raced nor have I been to any racing schools. My wife and I will be attending a Skip Barber race school.

When I drove at Seabring it was not a race, but at a race testing session. I was able to take the 911 for 10 laps. The drivers explained the breaking, the driving line, turning, shifting, etc. It was quite exciting - however, I still need more experience.

The NASA and SCAA both have performance driving schools from $100 to $250 and hold them at Sears Point, Thunderhill, and Laguna Seca.

I will definitly be taking the WRX to these after the break-in period.

Have you guys ever gone to Mach III? They carry the B1Hybrid bulbs in various colors. Might want to check them out. They are off Ocean...which is off of 19th ave.
