Default Cerwin-Vega: Do I need an adapter?

These are the speakers I am considering:
http://www.cerwinvega.com/products/m...g/vmag602.html

They have 4 holes though around the edge, and my stock speakers only have 3. I have a 98 Outback. Do I need some sort of an adapter, or...do I just make my own hole where I need it with a drill ?

Thanks.

Yes, you'll probably need to construct some sort of adapter, or "spacer" as it's usually called around here. This would not only be so you can mount using the four holes, but also to allow some extra mounting depth that it most often required of aftermarket speakers. Do a search on "spacers," you'll find plenty of info.

Note... this is all going from my experience with a MY02 wrx, so I'm not sure if it entirely applies to a '98 Outback as well... just trying to help you out.

Ok, so I need some spacers....I don't really think that depth is a problem with the outback, because i've looked back there and there is a lot of room. I did a search for "spacers"...but there wasn't must useful info. Could somebody direct me to an explanation on how I would go about making some of these? I'd prefer to do it myself.........
