Post I took first place!

I was waiting for Larry to post, but he ain't here yet. I went to an SCCA winter series race today and took first place in rookie class. It wasn't for points or plastic trophies, unfortunately . JJTheSubeDriver was there, along with Strepto and ImprezaRS.com (Sorry if I left anyone out, I'm tired.) We froze our butts off but overall it was a good day. Larry took his turboed Impreza with a modified suspension and kicked some butt. He beat a modified M3 that had slicks while he was on stock RE92's! Strepto did pretty good despite a few dirty runs. JJ did well too.
It was fun for everybody! It was a verrrry long, 60-second course. There was even part of a figure 8 in it. Pavement is fun, but I really want to try dirt eventually .

CHALK ONE UP FOR THE SUBARU GANG!!!!!!!!!!!

Gary

Well, congrats . Overall I am pleased with my performance, I came in second (out of 2 ) in my class, just a few tenths off of the first place guy. Okay, here's my excuses for not being first place: Race tires were not as big as a advantage today because:

1) It was F!@# cold and they couldn't warm up, until the end of the run.

2) The surface there SUCKS with a capital S. Too much gravel, not smooth, etc. Hindsight is 20/20 and I should have ran my RE-92's today.

3) He had a fully modded suspension setup, and I'm stock.

AND

I didn't drive to my limit

I think Coors should be different. MUCH different.

JJ, what was the other guy in? It also was so F#&@%ING COLD everyone stopped what they were doing whenever the sun came out. I slid all over that track, too. But, loose gravel on pavement is like driving on marbles anyway. I can't wait for Coors Field again. That surface was smooth as silk. We need snow...yeah....SNOW!!!!Hehehe Cool

Hmmm. I wasn't sliding all over The RE92's weren't so bad today, with the right suspension...

Actually, I was surprised Brad Golden didn't do better with his 5psi turbo RS in street mod. He was only 0.092 seconds faster than you were in your NA car! Although he is not a regular autocrosser. So, Good Job!

I am posting an article on the racepage.htm of my site later tonight or tomorrow...
Lap times for all Subaru's today in order of fastest (not to rain on anyone's parade):

Name - Time - class - Turbo/NA - tires

Larry Ganz - 54.766 - Street Mod - Turbo RS - RE92
Brad Golden - 57.257 - Street Mod - Turbo RS - street tires
Burninrubber - 57.292 - Street Touring - N/A RS - Kuhmo 712
El Kabong - 59.141 - G Stock - Integra TypeR - RE010 stock tires (he retired his RS)
Strepto - 59.317 - Street Touring - N/A - Kuhmo V700
JJSubieDriver - 61.820 - Street Touring - N/A - Kuhmo V700

We had three other RS's out there that didn't run today. That's a shame - waste of a good car and all... The even bigger shame is that since I was on street tires in street mod, and lost 1-2 seconds of time due to that, I only got 908 points today vs burninrubber's whopping 942 point, despite being 2.5 seconds faster. Where is the justice in that

Larry www.ImprezaRS.com

PS: Just wait, El Kabong is gonna blame his poor times on unfamiliarity with the Integra Type-R. "I only ran it twice in autocross"...

BTW, the fastest Corvette out of about 10 of them was a 54.746

The fastest Miata in "X" class was 55.104

The fatsest BMW in A Stock was 57.090

The fastest Camaro in F Stock was 53.865

The fastest CSP car was a CRX at 57.891

The fastest ESP car was a Mustang at 54.108

The fastest ST car was 56.086 (anyone know who STS12 was?)

The fastest car of the day was an expert in an ITR on slicks @ 52.784

That's how Subaru compared to the rest of the lot...

Gary:

My only competition was the guy in the White Nissan Sentra SE-R, that did a spectacular spin right after the start on his first run A Black Honda Accord in STPR ran a 61.9 something, so if he was in open class I'd be number two of three.
