Local gearhead please help...

Can I replace the plumbing from the MAF to throttle inlet (including the second filter box in my MY99CA) with something available at a local bay area race shop/parts store?

I know all the varieties of this have been debated...should I even bother?

I think that the weapon r is a local company,
but the filter has been known to fail and anypipe in the engine compartment that is metal and not protected from the heat will be susceptable to a "heat soak"...for every 10 degrees drop in temperature there is a 2%
gain in power:-)
