Default Puttin a MY99 Motor into a MY98

Quick question, if i wanted to change a 2.5rs motor from a MY99 rs into a MY98RS would i need to change the computer/entire harness over ?............ thanks guys

I'm a little unsure of the engine dates for 2.5rs...
are you asking if you can put a phase II SOHC in place of the phase I DOHC? I would say yes. I have an phase II in my 97 legacy. I'm running phase I wiring ECU, etc....only problem is the EGR valve )or lack therof throwing a CEL every couple weeks or so.

BUMP, i need more input.. thx guys.... quick over view its a 98RS with the DOHC i want to put a 99RS SOHC motor in it can i use the 98RS wireing and harness and ecu.. thanks...

As Miccum stated I know that the EGR sensor will be an issue. Phase II motors do/did not have an EGR.

Is just changing the bottom end and option for you? It would be a bit more work to do, but not more than an extra 5-6 hours onto the swap, and you would save at least that much time in wiring.
The other thing to remember is the '99's were the MAF year that has issues with intakes and whatnot. If you go to all that trouble, you might want to consider an '00 or '01 with a MAP...

Matt, i sold the 98RS motor out of the car, so i have none of it left, and i have a 99RS motor that was from my old RS that i crashed i have the whole thing.... and what is the EGR valves signifigance ... is it important, keep in mind that the 99rs motor will only be in the car for a month at the max b4 it is replaced by a swap....
