Default Glacier Trails TSD Rally 11/8 -- Eagle River, WI

http://www.w-a-g.org/events/rallies/...11-08/info.htm

I'll be there, Rob Moran will be codriving for me. Who else is in?

I did a TSD this spring, if you've got questions I'm FAR from an expert, but I may be able to help. Otherwise you can email Dave Parps, his address should be in that link.

That looks like fun. Phil, how about you and me take the lx? Ah, the wrx should be done by then. Let's take that instead. I think I can read a map, Which way is north?

If the WRX is done it'd be a great break-in but I don't know that it will be. Otherwise if you want to head up with me, we can take the LX or your RS. I'm already resigned to working the event, but the roads are still great to drive on and it's more fun with 2 guys working a checkpoint than just 1.

I had no idea how far up there Eagle River is, I'll have to figure out when I'm heading up, friday night or Sat am early.

Ummm. Yea.

Your 3/4 of the way to Houghton. If you are on paroll, make sure you take a map, because one wrong turn and you can end up in Michigan.

There are only 2 main roads up there (going north and south), and the sherifs dept. and local police are always on them.

Don't try and cut it short by speeding.

I guess Rob Moran isn't going to codrive for me, so I am not sure where I stand at this point. I work 2nd shift, so leaving friday night is an unsure thing, but I do have a vacation day to use if absolutely necessary. I need to see who I can have codrive, if not I'll probably work.

Well, Parps may have found me another codriver, so I may be in.

Marisa/Mick/others, when do you think you'll be caravaning up Fri? I'm thinking a half day would be a wise idea.

I'm not sure when I'll be leaving on Friday to get up there. I don't think I'll be able to leave work very early. Pete lives up in Wausau, so I might just drive up to his place on Friday and we'll leave for Eagle River early on Saturday. Haven't really figured that all out yet, though.

Have any of you done a TSD rally before? Any pointers for Pete and I? This will be our first one.

I did a TSD in May, but I ran with a very experienced codriver, so I didn't have to worry about much. I think there is a beginners school or something listed there, maybe 9am sat? It'd probably be a good idea to do that. Also I'd search online and try to find some formulas to calculate different things.

note from dave-

Just a quick reminder that the early entry cutoff for WGT VIII/EDR is coming up quick- this Thurs. night Oct 30 at 6 P.M. to be exact! If you can't get your entry to me by mail by then, please send me the info off-list and I will include you in the draw. And just in case anyone was wondering if a stock class car/team might be competitive, the route was pre-checked by Tim Craft and Jack Swift in a Ford Aerostar van with stock headlamps and they felt such a vehicle/team would have no competitive disadvantage!
Current entries on hand include:
Class E: Johnstonbaugh/VonKaenel, Harvey Jr./Moran, Bell/Bell, Champeau/Jurgenson.
Class L: Wiedbusch/Wiedbusch, Carlborn/Carlborn.
Class S: Kowalski/Dolin, Fernandez/Fernandez, Newcum/Newcum[ Rookie], Annen/ Fradkin[Rookie].
We are expecting local Radio, TV, and Press coverage of the event.
Also, the first ever CEN DIV Championship Awards Ceremony will follow the WGT VIII/EDR awards on Sat. night!
You don't want to miss what promises to be most exciting and enjoyable rally of the year- so come up and join us in northern Wi. on Nov. 8th!
Event info can be found at: http://www.w-a-g.org/events/rallies/...1-08/info.htm.

Marisa/Mick-

Use the rubber grommet that is in the firewall to run the wires through. If you're feeding the switch through, it may or may not be big enough, I'm not sure.

I used my existing fog light switch, and tapped into the wire for the fog lights to run to hte relay.

Just ask people on IRC they can explain it to ya.
