Lightbulb ok....Ok....lets move on.......(real WRX content inside)

Ok. I will be the first to admit it. I have been one of the many detractors, over the past few months, of the new WRX based on the looks, and the additional weight. I admit it, I gave into the fashion scene, the form over function crowd. I was weak, I gave in....forgive me. Yes...yes...yes....you told me so. So here I am, throw your stones....my back is against the wall, I have my blindfold on and my last Camel is lit (but I won't inhale) Forgive me Michelle!...........as the sound of gunfire reverb from the stone walls....as slowly echo away.....

So....moving on. Has anybody heard from/about Prodrive making its parts available? I believe that they had mentioned something last year. My first mods will be the PD rear wing, brakes, and exhaust. I am kinda torn between the STi, Prodrive and Alcon braking system. I guess whomever has the fill kit that includes the brake booster and or master cylinder will get the most orders.

As for the dealer add-ons, I guess IF they have access to the STi catalog, I will opt for the short shifter, STi gauge pack, Sti suspension, pedals, and intercooler upgrade. Plus the under-chin spoiler, and gril change. You can't beat getting all your mods in the purchase price with warranty.

As for wheels, I will keep the 16" for winter and get a set of P1's in carbon or a set of OZ Superlegga in silver. Only if they would offer the P1 in silver, I might even pay more. I will have to photochop it to see what looks better.

I am looking at an July-August purcase date, unless good fortune comes sooner......yeah right. I wanna see what comes of the rex in the first few months.

Comments...?

Lovejoy

Cool

Hey Lovejoy, I have to admit I have been a detractor too. I have really been stuck on the looks, especially the headlights. But now after seeing what we will be getting, I think this car is a tremendous value. I'm still stuck on the looks, but if I can get my hands on a set of HIDs, I'll be happy.

I don't know what will be offered as aftermarket parts, but I am amazed by the level and interest in mods already. With this ammount of enthusiast support - and particularly I-club members - this car is bound to be a huge success regardless of the looks.

BBUuwwwaaaaa HAhahahahahahaha.

Happy?

You shouldn't be concerned about changing your mind. There's nothing wrong with that.

People like different things. Are you saying you succumbed to peer presure? Nahhhh....

I've already got my order in for a Silver WRX Wagon.

You'll like that car....

About Prodrive parts...give it a little time, but I think you're going to see a plethora of parts from the US for this car.

They're looking in the 1st year to make more (10,000) then the total amount of 2.5 RS's made int he 1st 3 years....so therefore, aftermarket money will be readily available.

Yeah, the new STI/Brembo's won't fit the 16's either.

I still don't like the sedan, but the wagon is much nicer.

Personally, I just want the parts. All of the parts... steering wheel, seats, rotors, motor, tranny, whatever... I want to be the guy that walks into a junkyard, gives some dude $200, and takes the car away on a flatbed.

Ohhh yeah.

Aren't there some aftermarket brakes that fit 16" wheels?

AP Racing... If there is serious interest I can get them. AP Racing is what is used on the WRC car.

STi parts will be available, but under the Subaru Performance Tuning name, from the dealers. Why SPT? Why not just go with STi? We asked the SoA reps in Detroit and the bottom line is that FHI said no. But, if you order those SPT struts, or short shifter, or muffler, (etc), when you get them/it, they'll be in an STi package with an SPT sticker thrown over it. Weird, but that's the story we were told.

I don't specifically remember anyone asking about brakes, sorry.
