Default Utec Map Selector..

Do the wires for the clutch pedel have to be installed at all?

Or does it not matter for switching maps?

Not installing the clutch wires will have no effect on map selection.

Correct, the clutch wires are only used for launch control. You may want to hook them up in the future, as you can use the launch control to make it easier to rev-match your downshifts.
