Post Simple Impreza Air intake question: (New guy stuff...)

I was checking out parts and stuff for the Impreza (Including WRX) and had a question about the air intake system for them.

If you take a look at this:

(Pardon my reference, it's all I have personal experience with so far...)

.. You'll notice - it's pretty straight forward how the air filter can be change to an open one. Pop off the enclosed one, throw on an open one, and you're done. And besides a battery reset and some cars experiencing minor whistling, there's no issues.

But on the Subaru's is seems quite extensive. Is it difficult to do and and how much does it cost? Granted you're talking about a 4 Cylinder engine so you probably won't get HUGE gains, but at the same time it seems like the stock system is quite restrictive. And you would think (I'm guessing) that the turbo would prefer that over the stock system as well.

Call me curious...

Cheers!

Try a search in the Powertrain forum. From what I understand, it's not too difficult to do. Of course, when you start looking at the intestines of a Ford, it does look kinda complicated. For my money, I'm going with Larry's intake because of its good reviews and because it delivers cooler air from the wheel well and retains the stock airbox with a less restictive filter.
www.imprezars.com You can find the intake I'm talking about here.

Aaaaaah... Gotchya. I think I was just going from all the STUFF I could see in pIcs and not from experience. Or maybe I'm subconsciously preparing myself for mods on a car I shouldn't be buying, but will anyway.

Oh and I apologize for posting this in the wrong area - should've went in Modifications somewhere or something.
