Anyone know what brand and size or rims and tires Subaru uses on the Solberg Rally car? I know it chages depending on the surface but I'm wondering what they use for tarmac.

On tarmac, the SWRT runs 18" x 8" OZ Prodrives, with Pirelli tires. Tire size is 225/40-18 (I think).

On gravel, they run 15" x 7" OZs. Not sure about the tire size on these.

they are more than likely limited to that size by the regulations set by the FIA.

IIRC the FIA regulation is a 210mm width.

Yeah, they do. They are cast magnesium.

For street use, OZ (Prodrive) P1 are the ones you are looking for. However, Rota makes a copy of them called Tarmac, which happen to be lighter (and of course cheaper) than the real thing. They also came out with a version that will fit on top of the Brembo STi brakes called the Tarmac II. The copy is even closer. Just compare the lug nut area:

I'm sure you know where I took the pics:

Here is the Tarmac:

And here is the Tarmac II

Umm... the WRC wheels are clearly marked 'forged' but most likely are magnesium (I can't imagine they aren't with cost being no object). The closest wheel available here is indeed the P1 for looks, but it is cast aluminum. Or you could go with the Prodrive GC-010 for a very similar look in forged aluminum.

I would like to see the price tag on those WRC wheels. Big moolah.

I think that the GC-010 looks closer to the WRC wheel and is also forged. They look a lot like the Tarmac 2, but at a much higher price. Too bad you can't get Tarmac 2 in 18".

Umm, I saw the picture above, but according to http://www.swrt.com/35035.html they are cast.

Take a look at the other pics on that gallery. If that is an "official" SWRT car, why is Solberg listed as Makinen's co-driver?

It's probably the same mock "official" car they had at the Detroit auto show and the SAE show. It's hard to say how official the parts on it are though.

Well thrasher, you are absolutely right. It turns out that forged magnesium wheels are disallowed by the FIA for WRC cars:

Quote:
In Rallies only:
Forged magnesium is forbidden for wheels with a diameter less than 18".
Forged magnesium is forbidden for 8x18" wheels, as from 1 January 2001 in the World Rally Championship for priority drivers, and as from 1 January 2003 for all other events.
This is from Appendix J of the FIA International Sporting Code.
