Yeah, that's about right.

Question Where to buy carbon fiber and water bottles?

Ok guys I have two dumb questions. Where does one buy carbon fiber cloth? Is it similar to fiberglass cloth to work with (i.e., drape over mold, slather with epoxy, swear like hell when a fly lands in it and gets stuck)?

Where does one buy those cool water bottles that people bring to autocrosses to spray down stuff? They work like super soakers -- pressurize with air and then spray.

Any help much appreciated! BTW slide the BBQ just kicked ass...

Cheers,
Joe

Joe
let the answer guy help you

first
the spray bottles are simply sprayers for the garden.(bug sprayers) go to depot and get your self one for 15.00 or so.
as for the carbon fiber, if you just need a little bit go to TAP PLASTICS there and they have most everything you need. it is a little more expensive but you can get it pretty quick. if you need more you can go to AIRCRAFT SPRUCE they have better prices but it is in LA .
if you need a full roll pof CF or kevlar try and look at www.carb.com
they have a lot of surpluss material there but i believe there is a minimum.
if you have any more Q's email me and i'll see if i can help

Tom, you rock, thanks very much for the info!

My goodness, www.carb.com is just a porn site for carbon fiber fetishes. I found Aircraft Spruce just after posting the original question -- ordered me up a free 500-page catalog, should be some good stuff in there.

I had no idea that carbon fiber is so "easy" to work with (especially if not fabricating structural parts, one could probably get by without the vacuum bagging and stuff). Next question: have you ever worked with the pre-preg material (i.e., it comes with some epoxy in there already) -- is it too stiff for the shadetree composite fabricator to work with easily?

I think I'm going to get practice turning all my furniture and cabinetry into carbon fiber. :>

Cheers,
Joe

By the way, thanks for the spray bottle tip too. I wonder if they make a big mo-fo model that would be appropriate for filling with deionized water and using that to spray down the car as a final rinse?

My "industrial strength" (yeah right) de-ionizing spraybar from www.spotfree.net arrived last month, I am one happy camper. :>

The more expensive spray bottle is available at most "outdoor stores" like REI etc.

Carbon fiber is at www.fiberglaste.com (I better check that)
fibreglast.com:-)

Hey Joe, Tap plastic is a very reliable source. I've done work with them before. I've gotten plastic products from other sources but they never came in great quality. Also, Rei has a cool soaker gun. It's more for play, but I'm sure it can be used for other purposes.
