Post I want this car

86 Impala with a 468cid V-8... that's around 7.7 liters! Claims to be around 650hp, 950 with NOS. Check it out kids... Forget Kevin's turbo OBS, this is the ultimate sleeper!!

Someone is lying or the other guy wasn't racing (or doesn't know what the hell they are doing). I evoked the latter whenever I beat LT1 camaros in my LG4 5spd camaro.

Oh give me a break, I can build one just like it for less than the $7500 current bid. 123 mph is nowhere near the power he claims at the start of the listing (650+300).

Are you trying to say that's too low of a trap speed for a low 11s pass?

Not at all, I'm saying one would think the trap speed would be considerably higher if he were making ~900+ HP.

I don't believe it at all!! For one, I build high performance engines for a living!

Second, My friend has a 98 Corvette that puts 660hp to the tire and runs 136mph down the 1/4 mile on STREET TIRES (Not even cheater slicks!).

third, my other friend has a 91 Corvette set up for open road races (Silver State, Pony Express) that put 805hp to the tire and ran 9.90's at over 140mph taking it pretty easy off the line and easy between the gears!

So, I DON'T BELIEVE IT!!!

Well...the Caprice sleeper thing has already been done. And by me no less, way back in 1991. Mine was an 82' Caprice 4-door, brown (actually more of a goldy brown) with wire wheels. Instead of the 454 I used a 501cu (8.2L) Cadillac motor. The engine was out of a 73' Sedan de Ville. The engine put out almost 500 lbs of torque bone stock. The only modifications I made to the engine were a larger carb and dual 2.5in exhaust. I kept the Caprice's stock rear end (2.41) as I was travelling lots of highway at the time. At the strip my best time was 14.4@108. The tall rear end explains the high terminal speed. It was a real dog off the line, but really began to pull about quarter track. If the above car was running a tall rear end also, I would believe the 123mph terminal. I doubt my car was and more than 400hp, probably less. But the redline was only 4600rpm. On the highway the car was insane. I ran out of guts long before it ran out of power. It liked to start to lift around 240kms/hr. Not a safe feeling.

Remember that it is a 4000lb car and has the aerodynamics of a barn door. I am not saying that I totally agree with him, but there are other things to take into consideration.

2 Cents to follow

11:07.....123mph

Low trap speed, but he is pushing a brick that has a higher cg than a Volvo wagon. No matter what gears you put in it, you will run out of top end fast. It that whole wind resistance thing. Should have felt my 77 460 c.i.d. LTD over 100. Waaaay scary.

468 c.i. with 12/1 slugs, on the bottle. Um can we say torque monster?

Devouring the "Super"cars. Um, I beat a Viper in my RS. Went by him like he was standing still. He was parked, I wasn't

90% of the equation of speed is the driver

LOL!!! thats nuts...a caddi plant in a caprice. Man, sounds like fun. Although that much top speed in a brink would get preaty scary i would think.

I gotta agree with J-Spec, a grocery getter, Si eater WRX would be quite a blast.
