Post Autoweek Subaru Article new Svx

I will attempt to type this article from todays autoweekly.
"Subaru is planning to revive the svx name on a radical new four-wheel-drive coupe that's planned for launch in 2003.
The two-door will ride a modified version of the next impreza platform and rumor says it will have a radical-looking, all-steel body aimed at answering criticism of subaru's bland styling efforts in recent years.
Described by subaru sources as japan's answer to popular audi tt, the coupe is likely to be offered with a wide range of engine choices, including the impreza wrx's rally-bred, turbocharged 2.0 liter flat four. with 280 hp, it promises to endow the coup with tt-slaying performance."
It also says something about maybe using the 6-cylinder.
I hope everyone finds this interesting.

Hmm, I would be very carefull comparing S2000 to a Boxter. Even a Z3 isn't a match for a Porsche's roadster. Maybe the M Coupe or M Roadster, but definetely not a regular Z3.

Porsche Smorsche...I've seen well driven S2000's hand everyone their ass at Sears, T'hill and Laguna Seca, especially Boxster chumps.

I think the Boxster is a lame substitue for the Carrera convertibles.

Just my 2c...

Hmm... here's an idea: what if Subaru decides to make the new Impreza as a 4-door sedan only like the Lancer (there's no 2-door Lancers, right?). And the upcoming SVX carries all of Subaru's coupe sales, since it might be built on the same chassis?

Oval: That makes sense since the coupe/roadster market is still on fire and unlikely to slow down anytime soon...

As for S2000 vs. M-coupe vs. Boxter vs. Etc., go read the Motor trend article, Boxter is still the king... especially the S

Yep. Boxster S is the kind of Roadsters, I think. It just doesn't get better. Carrera Cabriolet is a different animal.

True, Boxster S is king of roadsters, BUT..... Boxster S = ~$50k, S2000 = ~$35k. I'll take the S2000 and put $10k of the $15k into mods and walk all over any Boxster! Ask Adam Bloom.

DSMAWD, in *theory* the S2000 is $35K. If you can find a Honda dealer who'll actually sell one for MSRP, please let me know. The cheapest I've seen them locally is $50K, because the dealers around here are felch guzzling assclowns.

When the dealers stop gouging like bitches for them, then you might have a point.

FIND an S2000 then you can talk about buying one.

As for me, i'll take the Porsche anyday whether or not it's faster or quicker than the Honda.

A Honda is a Honda is an Acura.

Porsche Is.

OK since the S2k's inception what last year,I've seen more of them than our Scoobies! Let alone the Boxster S (not the regular Boxster mind you!).
I'd much ratehr arrive in a Boxster S anytime than a Civic roadster. Dang the front end sure looks like a civic!

That's how it is with all special edition cars. The Cobra Rs are going for 70K-90K(20K-40K over MSRP), the Prowlers are going for 70K(30K over MSRP), and when the NSX first came out, dealers were charging 110K for them(50K over MSRP). Dealers will charge what they know they can get, because with limited edition cars, selling is not a matter of if, but when, so they know they can charge whatever they please.

I am not impressed at all with the M Roadster since a fellow member (2.5 RS Turbo) and I (2.5 RS Stock ) were driving on the highway and he was keeping up with the M Roadster like I keep up with Ladas!

I was really impressed by my friend's car since he was only driving at 6 or 7 PSI!

I'll take a 2.5 RS Torbocharged anytime before buying the new Impreza or an SVX!

Just my 2 cents!

Cheers

CObra Rs are going for 120+ now since many were sold already, but S2000s go for less than MSRP in Miami now. There just sitting at the dealers lots.

My dad found TWO dealers within an hour of where he lives that would sell him an S2000 for retail. One he had to wait for (a 2001 yellow) and one he could get immediately; a red one with no miles on it! He bought the red one and my opinion of S2000's are that they are a steal at retail and they kick ass. Cool! That's one advantage of living in a tiny town.

kostamojen, in EVERY artical that I have read the S2000 wins performance wise over the boxter S the M-roadster and the TT-convertable

I suscribe to road and track, and car and driver, even though it didn't win their contest for best car it won performance wise in every test.

not hard to believe since it has the best power the weight ratio, and a perfect 50/50 weight distribution.

sure I love the boxster, but performance wise the S2000 takes the crown

Cool

I just like my custom boxter-s in Need For Speed Porsche (supercharged hehe) and I think you could do that in real life ($$$$) and of course that doesnt compair with the S2000 price, but people on the BBS are compairing the new WRX with the S4...

Anyway, for the price of an S2000 i would rather get a car with some more "car" included, and one that you didnt have to rev the F*** out of to drive. $35k give me a 330ci or IS 300 thank you...

I like everything about the S2000, except for its power curve. That whole econobox-till-7000rpm crap is really stupid. That thing couldn't move for crap without driving that car like you want to break it. Low end power and torque are nearly non existant. The Porsche Boxster on the other hand has a good power curve. I really liked it, but I couldn't fit in either of them with the top down.

Hmmmm. When I drove it it was VERY driveable around town. No prob at all. As easy as my RS or easier to drive. And the high redline is fun as hell when you flog it, like a motorcycle (almost). Very addicting. Never drove a Boxter yet though. I think I'd still choose the S2000 because of the price and rarity.

Talking

Kostamojen,
you said: "but people on the BBS are compairing the new WRX with the S4...",
well I'm not comparing it I'm telling you the S4 is a "not a good car" like "Autocar" said, when comparing it to a P1.
Audi don't have a descent driver's car, and I'll take the WRX over the Audi anyday,
maybe one day you'll meet a WRX on the road and then you'll understand what is the WRX all about.
You make me laugh an overrated (in the U.S), overpriced, slower (5.6 Vs. 5.2 sec 0-60) and less of a handler, and you dare compare the S4 to the WRX?????
Too bad the RS4 with all it's power lost to a Skyline, scooby and got only 3.5 stars in "evo", "Car" & "Autocar",
Ah an is slower than a 280 STI (4.9 for the Audi Vs. 4.6 STI).
Get a life.
