Default Uppipe, down pipe questions

hi, I am looking to get the 3 inch down pipe. then a uppipe, just want to know which ones (brands) will not give you a problem with the state emission tests? I heard that if you eliminate both cats by at by the down pipe you will have a problem with the emission?

And I am also looking to get the HKS Ti/carbon exhaust after the pipes...

all suggestions welcomed.

Thanks guys

removing the uppipe cat should be fairly safe with emissions, so long as they test it when the car is warmed up, and they don't stick their head down there to check

Where do you live...?
this plays a big part in the "emissions" equation.
Doing a search will help, BTW
Personally I thyink you can be wasting your money for the HKS stuff. If you're after the bling, sure, that's you ticket.
I have the PDE UP and Down as well as the MRT 3" single tip. the car sounds great at full chat and is quiet at idle. Best of all it looks virtually stock, which helps avoid PD. They aren't very mod friendly here.

You didn't state your location but in CA a catless exhaust will fail the visual part of the smog test. It's actually illegal to even replace the cats with high-flow units unless you can show that the OEM parts were defective. Even then, I think they have to be replaced with factory replacements (in CA). I'm not sure if you can fit the factory heat shields around a 3-inch downpipe and exhaust, but it does fit around the catless uppipes that are on the market.

If you go the 3-inch downpipe route, save your old parts!

thanks guys, I live in NYC btw.

PURE EPI, the PDE's up and down, are they with cat or catless, and i have heard some good stuff about HKS exhaust (performance wise). The up and down pipes don't have to be hks, just whatever works and legal.
