Talking Greddy Exhaust

I bought a Greddy exhaust three days ago and let me tell you im very satisfied. Very easy to install and the sound is just what i was looking for. I wanted a little louder than stock, but yet not to noticeble. Well the greddy Evo at idle has a beautiful deep pulse....meaner sounding than stock, but you really cant hear it in the cabin unless you really get on the gas. I noticed a tiny loss on the low end due to the loss of back pressure, but definatly noticed a gain on the top end. The car pulls harder in mid 4th to 5th and at the end of 3rd. I was kinda concerned on the diameter of the tip cause i didnt really want a grapefruit shooter......but ehh its worth it.

Default Downpipe

I have Stromung catless downpipe with my greddy evo. This downpipe is from turbo to midpipe which removes second cat only. So I still have stock midpipe and 3rd cat and didn't have any fitment problem. BTW, this downpipe along with my godspeed uppipe is rock!!! My evo even sounds better(little louder but not much). Totally different car. You should try this!

I don't want to jump on your nutz here man but I thought Zero backpressure was optimal. If your losing low end somethin aint right.

Am I right?

I had the evo exhuast for about 4 months. It is pretty nice, not loud at all, even catless. I installed the evo with a pde down-pipe and perrin up-pipe and thought it was quieter then with the stock catback with these parts. Now I'm running stage 4 with headers and a 2.5 in. uppipe and it is even more quieter with the headers.

The only issue that I had with this exhuast is that it rattles adjust something under the car, but nothing 4 cartboy hangs wouldn't fix. It still gets a ratktle or two, but only going over a speedbump.

I'm thinking about taking off the headers and throwing in the old up-pipe, cuase I threw in a vf34 which is supposed to spool pretty close to stock, but with the headers it is spooling at close to 4000rpm. But the with the headers the car has really nice top end. So still can't make up my mind.

Had a tanabe racing medellon when i first got my car and went catless, it was really loud. After driving around for a hour on the highway, when you get out of the car you body is numb. I went back to the stock cat-back and the only reason that I bought the evo was the stage 4, needed the flow.

But sometimes I miss the noise.

Thumbs up Sweet

I bought this exhaust myself about 2 weeks ago and I ended up installing kartboy hangers to keep that exhaust nice and tightly fit. It fit perfectly with the stock hangers but it was a bit loose and had the potential to rattle. It now hugs the inside of the exhaust cutout in the bumper, but only the concealed part. It sounds "perfect" in my opinion because I don't like all that noise. I was looking for a deep sound and I got it. It's not much(if at all)louder than stock. The sound is nice and audible especially at low rpms and as you gas it you hear the difference begin to dwindle from the stock rumble, even though you notice the difference in acceleration. I have a 4EAT and I did not notice that much if any loss in low end acceleration because it feels like the engine spools *slightly* faster. Nice look, nice sound, nice fit, slight gain. I could not have asked for much more. 550 shipped.

Edit: I have a Perrin crank pulley, AEM CAI, and Helix DP, ...they help too!

Im running catless HKS dp to the Greddy evo catback and LOVE IT!!! thing just sounds MEAN under hard acceleration, but other then that its a nice smooth deep note. Not very barky like alot of other exhausts, i think a little more rasp would give it the perfect tone. I dont have any fitment issues, and i havent heard any other noise form under the car. I didnt really notice much of any gains before i did the DP though, but now it has great top end. This is a great set up!

I have an identical setting, HKS Down-pipe and the Greddy Evo.
In addition to that I have the Borla ehxaust manifold and the result is explosive... it sounds very deep but very quiet at iddle, great amounts of torque, good spool up, good looks and very easy to install.
The only little problem that I found is that the rear section of the pipe touches the rear axle of the car in some certain rpms. It was a quick fix for me, I installed some custom made padding/cushing to avoid the vibration.

Greddy EVO sucks. I had it on my car for like 4 months....way too long. I finally ditched it for the Blitz nur-spec. The Greddy weighs a ton compared to the Blitz, Greddy has ugly piping and it looks way more aggressive than it actaully is. I give the Greddy EVO 2 thumbs down! Just my 2 cents!

im thinking of stromung for my exhaust selection. i have stromung right in my area and i know the owner himself and was thinking of having him create a special one for my car. it will be different and not noisy till you rev up to about 4 or 5 rpm's. but how much is the greddy? so i have an idea what he will charge me. a bit different design for what we have seen on the impreza's '04 is the idea with a name.
