Default Best turbo for my needs?

I won't be going out to the track all the often 3/4 times a year so high top end really isn't important to me.. I am looking for a turbo that spools quickly and had some great mid-range punch.. I love 3rd gear.... Which one would be the best for me? Low price I was thinking about a port n polish from deadbolt on the stocker.. Mid was thinking bout the vf34 (seems to be everybody's fave) or the deadbolt Monster Td05 any ideasd on which would be best? Thanks

Seems like you have already answered your question. A VF-34 or a TD05-16G sounds like what you want. Get some engine management with it then get it tuned and you will have a great 3rd gear punch

the TD05 would probably give you the most- not too much spool and some good power with some tuning. I'm not too sure about the VF- don't have much experience with them. I have the deadbolt TD04- I love it. gives spool, plenty of go, and a huge difference in 5th- I know, you said 3rd, but you get the idea

speed safely

if you upgrade your turbo to one a little bigger than stock, is the injectors and pump the next thing to do? Are there any upgraded turbos that don't require upgrading the injectors, etc...?

You can get by without upgrading the fuel system with just about any bolt on turbo as long as you pay attention to a/f and idc.

Just so youre aware, in stock form at stock boost levels, the stock turbo pushes idc's really high as is. Theres not much room for improvement after youve done all the usual bolt ons.

I think a vf30/34 is a good choice.

its really kind of hard to compare a vf34 with an SR40 ..... they're not even in the same class.

I would definitely recommend throwing on some new injectors and a fuel pump with any upgraded turbo. Mlambert is right, the stock setup already pushes the stock injectors over 90% at high MAF and revs. When my car was at stage 2, I would see 98-99% idc routinely at high revs in 4th.

If you stick with a vf30/34, you get a turbo that just about everyone knows very, very well. They're cheap, spool fast and make plenty of power for you at easily attainable revs, yet don't drop off at redline. I have a vf34, and on 91 octane, I'm at 16.5psi by ~3250, holding it all the way to redline, and on 98/100 octane, I'm at 21psi from ~3400 to redline.

A vf35 will spool sooner than a vf30/34, at the expense of high-end power. A vf35 is also more expensive.
