Thumbs down Poor air quality

OK I was going to hold off the complaining about the crappy air quality here in Japan where I am at because I thought it would pass after a few days. Well guess again. It actually got worse. I never thought I would ask for Smog-Nazi's but this place needs them. For the last week everyday the air has been so bad. I open a window or go outside and my lungs and eyes burn from all the crap in the air. It isn't even the cars. Its the jet exhaust, factories, farmers burning off the rice fields, and lack of wind or rain. Its hard to imagine a country that makes all vehicles be LEV's would allow all this other pollution. When I was a kid I thought visiting LA was bad. Yet another reason to move home.

To me, that has always been one of the greatest irony! The government has heavily cracked down on personal vehicular emmissions for the past many years. However, it seems they haven't been as zealous in their crusade against industrial pollution. The irony is, if you look at EPA's newest report, personal automotive emissions account for a relatively small percent of all US pollution (except for nitrous oxides, which is accounts for over 50%).

I think I need to find out where all the locals are getting their masks that they wear all the time. It may not keep my eyes from burning but at least I can breath.
