Default TurboXs TMIC +GTSpec splitter=nono

Hello ,

Please learn from my experiences, first I got the Intercooler Samco hoses then TurboXs TMIC, and found out that the Y hose Samco intercooler hose is just too short to fit into the larger core TurboXs Intercooler.

I sold the Y Samco Hose but now I just got the GT Spec air splitter and despite that is very well made and fits perfectly to the stock hood with the STI scoop it is not 100% compatible with the TurboXs TMIC.

The problem is when I try closing the hood this splitter pushes hard into the TurboXs TMIC and also to the STI scoop making this last one raise about 1/4 of an inche showing a gap in the fitting with the hood.

I will take pictures and I will post them so you know what I am talking about. The problem seen to be that the TMIC is just to fat ..

Good luck!

Thanks

I found that out too . I believe from other discussions the genuine STi splitter and the APS splitter will work. These use a rubber seal just like the stocker that can be easily trimmed if needed.

interesting...

What hose did you have to use with the TurboXS TMIC? It would be dissapointing to have to go back to the stock Y hose.

Kartoffel,

You can use the half aluminium half silicone Y hose provided with the Turbo Xs TMIC.

As per the Samco Intercooler Y hose, don't waste your time, the answer is simple, it does not fit. The problem starts when the Turbo Xs intercooler measures 19"x11x4.5", this core is just too big to try to "strech" the Y hose from Samco which is originally design for the Stock intercooler size.

I wish I knew about it before hand so I would not waste my money and time. I sold my Y hose for only $40 and it was brand new..

Good luck to all!!

I have a Samco y-hose if anyone is interested . I used the throttle body inlet tube though. A big waste of $140 or something.

Interesting, I already posted a threat talking about how dissapointed I was when I purchased the Samco Hoses for the intercooler. Is not that the Samco hoses were bad but instead they were not a perfect fit for an upgrade TMIC.

People MUST know that the Y hose from SAMCO is not compatible to the TurboXS TMIC. When I first got my TMIC then my GTSpec splitter then the Samco hoses with the STI scoop I thought that I was set but unfortunately found that most of the parts are uncompatible since they are made to fit the STOCK IC.
