Rob,

I have a few questions for you, but please keep in mind....I am not trying to be a spoilsport here, just trying to get information.

What are your qualifications for slalom training and vehicle control?

Do you own a lot where this would take place?

If not, do you have written permission from the owner?

There are quite a few of us here locally that are current or former autocrossers and we would be interested. However, I cannot think of a soul here that would be willing to risk the penalties of illegal activities. VA state code § 46.2-865 applies and the penalty from § 46.2-867 is "the vehicle shall be seized and disposed of".

Ron

P.S.

Peronsally I think we should work with one of the local clubs (tidewaterSCC, or odrscca, bmwclub, etc) to help us set up a subaru only autoX day, and make it as big as possible.

I could start emailing some of the groups to see what they could do for us. I'm sure all it takes is money (and money divided by enough people should make it fairly cheap - as in the usual cost of an AUtoX).

At the very least they could give us tips on how to get it working, but then there is still helmets, pylons, workers, timers, etc. So going through another association seems like the only way around it.

Seeing as the subaru challange in richmond was hosted by the SCCA group up there it seems like it could be set up...with a lot of work.

Just some thoughts on the subject. Probably is way too much work in the end, and is easier to just say, hey lets meet at the regularly held autocrosses isntead of having our own....

then there is the idea of setting up a club with dues and such to pay for a yearly event. this would be badass, but again a lot of work.

Default I'm delighted.

I'd be worried of any fool who did'nt ask my credentials.
I have driven 300HP front wheel drive and 500 HP rear wheel drive vehicles.
One time drive of a 615HP Skyline GT-R R34 V spec II.
I've ran autoX in pungo va beach, solo division.

I've had driving classes with al unser jr in california. I went to Skip barbers racing school. I have run with porches in a private road race from florida to NoVA. Got 5th out of 20. not bad in a mustang 5.0 vs porches, ferrari, mercedes, bmw, hondas, chevy camaros, firebirds and corvettes.

I have driven in race conditions in SNOW, ICE and mud. and I mean MUD!

This is my first rally car however. So i hope to learn something from you all as well. Again, i am attempting to get us together. I will have permission (hopefully by the end of this month) for a lot in the middle of nowhere chesapeake.

Everyone will have to be 18 years or older. I don't do the whole minor thing. not trying to be a dick. but i gotta protect myself.

hope to get this going.

Sounds like a good plan to me. Sorry to get all official with you, but the majority of people here in Hampton Roads are fairly legit when it comes to this sort of thing. That being said, I think there will be a lot of interest. The autocross bug has bitten quite a few members recently and when they are not sleeping through autocross events (ROB), we are trying to attend them. Some race, and others, like myself, just show up and front. Sadly, my autocross days are long over.

If you want to talk about it sometime soon there is an "event" going on this weekend. A bunch of us are doing two uppipe installs on WRXs at the Little Creek Auto Hobby Shop. If you are available, please come. Details thread.

The only bad part of your posting is that you are now the official 1,234th "Rob" to surface as a local Subaru owner. From now on, I declare......

No more Robs, Roberts, or anthing remotely resembling the spelling in Hampton Roads!

how about we just kick out the other "RO" as in RON... seems a lot easier since there's a Rob and robert majority

Oh and sleeping through autox's is a speciality of mine..

if you don't like then here's an alien for you

Also not to sound like a prick but having gone to driving schools and the such are just experiences they don't actually qualify you as a instructor.

Ron is just pissed because he has an ugly mutated form of our most beautiful name.

There isn't much to be done about it but pity him...

Even though the Robs (henceforth know as the Borg) have all ganged up against me, I will be there. You guys might just convince me to go through the cones as well. I KNOW none of you want me to give you a sound thrashing with teh wagon! Team Grocery Getter may have to come out of retirement.....wait a minute.....Little Rob has a wagon too! You buggers are everywhere!

I am ALWAYS up for legal parking lot action. As long as everyone is being mature and respectful, which is one thing that worries me about a non club sanctioned event. But I would definitely show up, shot the shiit and meet new people (and leave the second I got nervous about people acting stupid).

Yeah, that's right. Since I really, really suck at remembering names that is one positive aspect of it.
