Question New guy needing help. Thnxs for ur time!

I also just bought a 1998 RS 2.5 and need more acceleration. I would like to spend less than 2k, or even 1k. I have all stock parts besides and air filter and premium spark plugs. It currently has a 4 speed automatic . Is it worth it to buy manual? what kind?
What should i invest my money in to get better acceleration and performance?
Right now i only have 500 to blow instanly. What should i spend that on before saving for all the other stuff.
(the more detailed u can be the better, i dont know much about cars, and i would have to get the parts installed unless it was extremely easy to learn)

You can try a catback & pulley(set) to start with... If you don't mind used parts try the Classifieds to save some money!
I have some stuffs on my auto: intake, full exhaust, pulley, street cam, remapped ECU. It's not a fast car but it's fun to drive on street.

dude.....keep the 4EAT...there were soooo few of them made in 98....something like 685 or so. Even fewer in 99, but still...to make it quicker, buy a catback exhaust, Underdrive pulley, and others....also, you may wanna look into upgrading the suspension....it won't up your HP, but, you will be able to take corners faster, and the handling on this car is UNREAL!!!

intake and cat back, real easy to install
only thing is that it will make your car a little louder
you might think to do some suspension upgrades like a sway bar or endlinks...

<shameless plug for my 4EAT performance thread> clicky </plug>

Keep the 4EAT. If you have the money to burn, you can still make your automatic into a decent performer. I've made a WORLD of a difference in my 4EAT, but it's a Phase 2. The good thing about your Phase 1 engine is that it handles boost a little better. I got that information for the development team trying to make a supercharger kit for the RS...the name escapes me for the moment.

Don't listen to the haters. People who diss on the autos are just jealous because they're doing more work than we are JUST KIDDING! Enjoy your car for what it is.

Edit: If you want to see the possibilities for a 4EAT, check out my car here .
