Confirmed. I believe both Karen Allen and Capshaw will have minor rolls.

Johnny Depp is going to make a great Wonka.

I think Tarrantino is directing it but I could be WAY wrong.

EDIT: Tim Burton, not Tarrantino. my bad

Corona's coming attractions list is pretty definitive for this kind of thing. They list EVERYTHING in production/discussion/whatever.

I head about that the day Pirates of the CArribean came out and have been excited ever since, Tim Burton will be directing it. HE is one of my favorite directors (Nightmare before X-mas is one of my favorite movies). Release date is Fall 2005. Here is a link.

Burton will make the movie very dark, and have all kinds of goofy colors and costumes ala Batman or Beetlejuice.

The oompa loompas are going to give me nightmares, I know it.

I'm pretty sure that Roald Dahl hated the first Charlie & the Chocolate Factory movie. For this film, I believe his estate is more involved so that it's closer to what he would have wanted it to be.

Wasn't the book itself pretty dark? It was so long ago that I read it that I don't remember.

And the Oompah-Loompahs won't be nearly as freaky as they were in the Slurm episode of Futurama. Slurm, gross!

Tim Burton is pretty much Roald Dahl incarnate, so yeah... I'm sure this will be much closer to Dahl's original vision. Exciting stuff!

Christian Bale as Batman=good.

Still no inkling of a movie based on DarkKnightReturns=not-so-good. I mean, really, what better Batman story is there? Yeah, yeah, I know, Joker's dead etc etc. So what? A DKR movie, just like the comic, would be billed as a totally stand-alone episode.

Limbo-land status of Iron Man, Ghost Rider, F4 movies (probably due, in some part, to the poor showings of Daredevil and Hulk), next Alien movie=so-so.

No real progress on any Superman project=bad. But at least this means the studio won't try to foist Jerry O'Connell, Canoe Read? or Nicolas Cage as the MoS.

Starship Troopers 2 holding to the formula of the first (knockoffs of Aliens' Colonial Marines battling poorly-CGI'd bug-things in settings that look like the deserts of New Zealand with absolutely no backstory a'tall)=very bad

Possibility of Xmen3 w/o Wolvie (Jackman's too $$ unless Van Helsing flops) or no Xmen3 at all (really, Xmen w/o Wolvie is like...um...worthless)=worse (there's a possibility of a Wolvie-solo movie because Jackman has said he wants to do it and it'd be way cheaper than a full-out Xmen flick, but the studio would certainly want him contracted to do Wolvie in Xmen3, which could lead to him phoning-in Wolvie's lines)

Apparent final demise of the Mad Max/Road Warrior franchise=end of world. I guess I'll have to make do with near-constant viewings of MM and RW until I'm dead. Good thing DVDs don't wear out.

Vin Diesel as Silver Surfer =

Dwayne "Rock" Johnson as Shazam= x10

To be fair the book Starship Troopers defined military science fiction decades before Aliens. But yeah, the art/costume director should have gotten sued for stealing the look of the Colonial Marines and their hardware.

That has definate possibilities as long as they avoid Conan the Destroyer like the plague.
