Post Got a tint ticket today, d@mm!t:

Some a$$hole of a cop gave me a tint ticket today for 35f/20rr on my car. I hate Virginia, this place has laws against everything. Even radar detectors!! He asked me if i had a note from the doctor for tint that dark, i said no. So he slapped it on me, 60 bucks!!! Is it possible to go to the doctor and complain about headaches and get an excuse. Has anyone been sucessful??
Man this is so third gradeish. I'm not paying $150 dollars to get it redone, plus it keeps the interior cool.

Just venting steam...
Welcome to Virginia!!!

Just be glad you still have it on. Around where I live if they pull you over with tint on they first: give you a big ticket around $90, then they give you 3 days to take it all off so you can show it to them.

I've never been pulled over for tint mostly because I try to keep my sunroof open (=more light) and everytime I see a police officer I roll down my windows. 32F/18R

You can get a note from an optometrist saying that you can have any tint you want, it costs 35 dollars in my state. Not sure what you have to tell them though, probably just that the bright sun messes with your eyes, or some UV BS.

I made an appointment with my doctor for monday. I'm gonna feed some serious BS about allergies with sinus headaches. Sunlight only makes them worse, you know!!! Hopefully that will take care of that. Then i'm gonna whip that thing out next time i get pulled over. Hopefully it will be in the rain, just to make the cop get out of the car. With the monkey riding shotgun of course!!!

Cool

I have a prescription from my eye doctor for light sensetivity. I was pulling in to my work after my daily Taco Bell run for lunch and a State Trooper was sitting in the vacant lot next to the store. He pulled out of the lot and followed me in to my parking lot. I got out of the car and started walking inside and he gets out with his "wheelbarrow full o' balls" to tell me my tint is too dark. I showed him my scrip' and he put his balls (now quite small and barely visible) away and went back to his car and his radar trap. I have 35f / 20r on a white car.

Rimmie- I got pulled over for tint about a month ago here in Mich. the law is 4" strip on top of winsheild and front side windows. I have 35% all the way around. He asked me for a prescription, and I also said i didnt have one. That week I went to two optometrists and an optemologist to try and get a light-sensitivity test. None of the doctors would give it to me. One guy even said "i dont believe in tinted windows" How do you believe in something that is either there or not there??!!

Anyways, I finally got a doctors note through a friend that knows a very cool neurologist. Thats right, a neurologist. The note says: "Justin gets migrane headaches, to prevent them happening, he needs tinted windows on his car do avoid the sun, which aggrivates them." So I went and showed this to the officer at the police station, and he waived the ticket!

"ow! my head hurts!!"
