Default Aquamist partnering with engine management developers.

As previously pre-announced and now creating great interest at SEMA, Aquamist has partnered with EcuTek to provide complete packaged solutions, which we will provide in early 2004.

A second relationship Charged Performance has been encouraging and is apparently a go was also announced at SEMA based on the following:

Based on work done throughout the summer we are very excited that both these relationships have come to fruition, in order to expand the available tuning tools that work together in an integrated way that anyone with modest automotive skills will be able to implement and maintain.

Water Injection rules! It's about time they came out with something like this. I'm really excited.

AquaXede. It's going to be exciting.

For our flat-4 engines, the intake path is relatively long after the throttle body. I wonder if we can use 4 water jets. One per intake manifold runner. This way, there is no distribution to worry about.

Interesting about the AquaExide. I guess Shiv finally saw the light. Last time I talked to him he refused to admit the benefits of WI.

Shiv has not been involved in this development. ERL in England contacted ChipTorque to enter into this partnership regarding a packaged product. ERL is in other markets and there is no certainty as to when US dealers may be able to receive the packaged product.

Shiv and I have had thoughtful differences on the benefits and implementation of water injection and I would just say we disagree.

Ah.. makes more sense. When I spoke to him he seemed really against tuning for WI and I would be surprised if his opinion was swayed that easily.

Thanks for the info

I've followed a particular thread a while ago about a guy with the aquamist kit getting tuned by Shiv. He wasn't able to get any gains.

The interesting thing about this are the following:

* He had STI injectors, using the fia2.

* He was using the 0.7mm nozzle.

Its a well known fact that using the fia2 and larger than stock injectors causes problems because with the fia2 you lean your fuel, and thus you inadvertently lean your water. I've talked to a dealer who actually installs WI kits on his cars and he often uses 2 nozzles or more to get the proper amount of water.

The 0.7 nozzle is way too small. He should have used at least the 0.9 or the 1mm nozzle.

In the thread, Shiv tried the usual tunning techniques of modifying boost, timing, fuel...all to no avail. He obviously did not know how to tune with WI, otherwise he would have attempting to adjust the flow of water as well.

There are some nay-sayers of WI from respectable tuners. There are also those both amateur and professional tuners who've gotten gains from WI.

To my knowledge there has been no contact at this time.

I recommended that Aquamist make these contacts and others that have resulted in the partnerships announced here based on my work over the summer to develop kits to convert the generic Aquamist systems to be specific to Subaru's and other makes (partnerships with other engine management soon to be announced elsewhere on the relevant forums).

More announcements will be made as pieces of the kits complete development. I expect that you will see that they will be able to be easily integrated with TXS products and we would be able to work with TXS users to integrate the kits. Though no packaged products are currently in development.

News Don't drill / tap that expensive intercooler!

Note the prototype intercooler to throttle body hose in the back corner of the case.

Charged Performance developed this hose with its partners to provide a no drill no tap method of adding water injection to the WRX and STi. Prototypes have been tested leak-free to 3 bars. The final product will be available with bungs for one or two jets.

Expected availability is near the end of December, pricing is to be determined. Existing Charged Performance water injection customers will be able to get this hose for a nominal shipping and handling cost.

I just spent last night tapping my IC for a second nozzle.

I share your pain - I had 3 holes in my Vishnu - 2 jets and 1 IAT thermocouple... This was of course after having tried a dozen failed ways to do something other than tapping the IC, the turbo outlet or the throttlebody.

That is why I got together with the right people to develop this and make it work under pressure.

Sorry it wasn't sooner. I would have announced sooner but was waiting until production was agreed on and moving.

This hose will be released in January 2004 and can be used in Aquamist or DIY systems that use Aquamist jets.

See our announcement in the new forum dedicated for this purpose - http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show...22#post5271522
