Comments: A great tire for a great price. We have a ton of ice on the roads up here in Fargo and these guys just keep on gripping. They are also troopers in the deep snow.

personal comments:

Very pleased with the first 7000 miles. I wanted better response in curves and better snow/wet traction. These tires give me all of that. They absolutely rock on curvy country roads, where my scooby loves to haul ass. They are also VERY sure footed in the snow and wet. They tend to float a bit more than I like on the highway, but this seems to get better at high (90+) highway speeds. This is unfortunate since they constantly tempt my leadfoot.

If these tires give me decent treadwear, say about 40K, then I will probably get them again.

Tire Model: Hankook Icebear W300 (V rated)

Total Cost: $479 mounted and balanced at Tire Factory.

Comments: Great dry/wet handling and in up to 6" of fresh snow. Not as great on packed snow and ice, but these tires are a trade off in extreme weather handling for more tolerable dry/wet handling, which was my goal this year. Give them a few hundred miles break-in before pushing them hard. The price was outstanding.

personal comments: Only drove the vehicle a few times, but MUCH better than the re92s. The car just sticks with very little wheel spin. The tread is much more aggressive then anything I've seen and clears itself very well. Has "pyramid" shaped blocks of tread that look like the tire will provide a good life with even snow goodness I was more impressed with these than the Bridgestone Blizzaks I had on my old SVX. The car is much easier to control when testing braking than the blizzaks. Plus the blizzaks are good, then the rubber compound is different (after 55% I think) and then they aren't as good. The tires def. don't handle as well as even the crappy re92's but it is a good tradeoff considering thier great traction in the snow!

personal comments: A bit "floaty" in the dry. I think its tread sway. Not noticably loud until 70mph, then its like a switch was hit and they get noticable, but not unbearable at all.
To test them I would slam on the brakes every time I came to a stop with some snow infront of it. I would happily stop when I wanted to, no real sliding, although the ABS kicked in a few times.
They do have decent grip in the dry but you can't really expect much from Snowtires. I can get the tires to spin easily turning on wet roads and flooring it (when pulling out of a side street or parking lot), but they get traction when I let off just a bit (I do this on purpose, don't think it would be a real problem if I was playing it safe).
In the snow I have to really play around to get them to lose traction alot. I have yet to do donuts in them (can't wait!) because we haven't gotten any real snow fall here.
They look awesome. I know that is not a big buying point, but they do look fierce.

personal comments: Best winter tire I've owned to date. Better than Pirelli snowsport 210's, Dunlop Graspic & Blizzak WS-50's. Much better mannerd in the dry, but still amazing snow traction. The Graspics were best on ice, but haven't had ice to compare with the M3's.

Couldn't be happier. I've always hated how my snow tires were mushy and gave bad feedback when the roads were clear. The M3's don't have this problem, yet still perform great in heavy/deep snow.

personal comments: dry: not the best, adj. tire pressure and still feel like im floating on the tires. wet: normal. snow: pretty darn good for an all season, very predictable. they weren't my first choice but the tire shop i usually go to ran out of hancook icebears, so i went with these. i def wouldn't recommend them for any kind of high performance dry weather driving, but i've gotten everywhere i needed to so far in the snow (driven in 5-8in of snow so far this year).

personal comments: After reading so many reviews on snow tires that wander on the dry roads, I came across a review for the WR, Sounded great and figured I'd try some, All I can say is WOW, day after I got the I was driving in 11" of fresh snow pushing it with my chassis, I had no problems. Miles better than those stock POS re92s. On the wet roads, the grip is unbeleavable, and on the dry you can tell they are not a summer tire with the amount of sidewall flex but still very comfortable upwards of 70 MPH. I highly recommend these tires to anyone, cough up the extra money and dump those RE92s ( at least for the winter ) to save your car.

I got an Amazing deal on my STI, it came with a brand new set of Enkei with studded tires on them, even a spare rim... I put them on my outback and use that for snowboarding, they do amazing in the snow/ice, best tires ive ever had by far !!! Have taken them up 6 times this season, and never had any issue, and only time i loose control is while doing cookies = D...

personal comments: Dry grip is fantastic for a winter tire. Better than or as good as a lot of all season tires. Snow and slush grip is good. Glare ice grip isn't the best. Normal ice grip is good.

There is always trade off between dry grip and snow/slush grip because of the different levels of siping. This tire is geared towards people that either don't get much snow, or drive on roads which are plowed frequently.

personal comments: Only have about 100 or so miles on these tires so don't have a LOT of experience with them yet, but they handle decent amounts of snow very well as well as ice. With the dense siping, you can really hear the tires "dig in" when decelerating and braking. Took the car to a parking lot with about 8 inches of snow and was impressed with the grip and control I had, especially in driver induced slides (nearly a religious experience I had so much fun). So far very happy with the tires compared with the "all seasons" that are on it the rest of the year. +1 for dedicated snows!!

personal comments:

I had Dunlop WinterSport M2s on the car for 2 winters and did not like them at all. They had great grip; I could go up any incline and stop any time, and the 2 times I ever got stuck were due to lack of ground clearance. I would expect nothing less from any all wheel drive car with 4 new dedicated snow tires. HOWEVER, the rear end of the car felt very lose at speed; I felt like I was constantly correcting for oversteer on any kind of slippery road at over 50MPH, even when traffic around me seemed to have no problems keeping up.
After about 3000miles, the Revo 1s are the very best winter tires I have ever driven or ridden on (comparing with Graspics, Dunlop M2, M3, Blizzak WS50s). They are amazing; I was able to set the fastest times of the day on both heats at the first rallycross I've ever entered (surface was snow and frozen sand) against similar cars equipped with various other types of snow tires. I have never felt unsafe on these tires, even when driving highway speeds on black ice, and thick snow; bearing in mind that stopping and turning on snow will never be anything like it is on a dry road, they still allow me to drive the speed limit, and then some, regardless of conditions. I am looking forward to a *great* ice racing season this winter
On dry and wet roads they feel like any other snow tire; no complaints at all in that department. I used them to perform an acceleration run of 0-60MPH in 4.07 seconds and a quarter mile of 12.6 @ 113MPH with a passenger, so grip can't be that bad. I changed shocks alignment and swaybars since I had my M2s on, so I can't say that the complete change in handling is entirely due to tires, but I highly recommend these and won't be using any other snow tires unless something radically better comes along.

personal comments:

The Conti is a great blend of grip, response, ride, noise and feedback, both in dry and in the wet. Very confidence inspiring and predictable. Wears great too.

The Nokian is the best winter tire for those who want the ultimate traction on Ice. Even better than the REVO. Snow / Slush performance is pretty good and Dry/Wet performance is just ok. Still as an all-round winter tire for the northern parts of the snowbelt and Canada, The Nokians are better than the Bridgestone WS-50s and the Dunlop M2s that I owned before. I would only recommend performance winter tires like the M2s if you live in the southern parts of the snowbelt.

personal comments: Although it has been a pretty warm winter (so far), these tires have done me good. I have been to Vermont a few times, and they have pretty good traction in the snow. They are a little noisy at highway speeds, but I only notice it when my stereo is off. Their dry traction is simmilar to the re-92's, and they are pretty good in the rain.

A good tire for the price.

Comments: These tires are just amazing. Good traction in snow/dry/wet. When it's snowing out, I simply laugh at people going 20mph... the car controls very well in the snow with these tires. The winter has been pretty dry, but I haven't seen much tire wear yet. Loving these tires. I can probably use it more than 3 winter seasons if this keeps up.

kinda expansive, but VERY good choice if you get snow/ice often

personal comments: stock all-seasons were getting a little worn, combined with me not wanting to switch off of stage 2, it was getting a little scary in the snow. these tires however, handle it pretty well. I still of course have stay out of the boost, but my friends are shocked, riding with me on unplowed roads, as to how well the tires handle it.

Pros: very affordable price, gotta love korea

Cons: a lot harder to do donuts in the snow now...

Comments: These drive very well on dry roads. So far, I haven't pushed them on wet roads, but I haven't had any scary moments either. They do a very passable job on snow and ice. Tonight I drove on packed snow, loose snow (up to where the snow was scraping on the underbody), and ice. They did very well on the packed snow and loose snow. Driving carefully, you won't get in trouble. If you try to break the tires loose, you can, but it is easy to regain control. On ice, you can get into trouble if you're not careful, but they still had reasonable traction.

For tires that perform this well on dry pavement, they do a very good job in the snow.

For the last two winters I've been using Nokian Hakka1's which are unbelievably good on the backroads and in deep snow, but not so great in the city and highways where the roads are cleared quickly and thus ice is more of a problem than snow. My new Garit HT's are fantastic on ice. With my Hakka's I would have to keep my eyes open for ice and I learned where to expect it. With the Garits I keep expecting to slide at the same spots and never do, even when I push it a little and try to slide.

The problem with the Garits is they feel very heavy and cumbersome, like trying to run in heavy winter boots. The Hakka's were very light and responsive in comparison.

Tire model: Nokian RSI snows. Summer tires F1 GS D3's - not reviewed.

Total cost: around $175 each. Nokians are not sold mail order.

Personal comments:

We put these on an Accord V6 and I was so impressed we got them for the OBW. MPG, noise, and highway performance are very good for this type of tire if you keep the tire pressure above 30 psi - they let you know when it's not. Hydroplaning resistance and wet road stopping are good. Wet road cornering power is not very good, like most dedicated snows. Most tests put these tires at the top for winter driving and I can see why - cornering and stopping in ice and snow is really impressive. The Scandinavians drive a lot on snow and ice covered roads so they demand top all-around performance. The Germans need high speed performance to take the Autobahn to the Alps. This tire delivers those capabilities.

They're more expensive than X-Ice, another good dedicated snow. They have a 12/32nds tread depth new so they last a long time.

Another really popular Nokian is the WR. It is the only All Season passenger tire with the Severe Service Snow rating - the Mountain/Snowflake icon. It has a 50,000 mile treadwear warranty and is becoming increasingly popular as a dedicated snow for those who drive a lot on dry roads. It is also the ideal all-around tire if you live in the snowbelt and can't have a set of dedicated snows. Some reviewers have stated they are squishy in cornering but like most tires I found them to improve dramatically after 1,000 mile breakin. We have one set and I'll soon be trying them on the OBW.

By contrast, the Dunlop M3 is a popular performance winter tire but does not have a treadwear warranty or UTQG treadwear rating - they are not designed for year-round use.

Best dedicated snow/Ice tire I have ever used. Not a bad dry tire either. I will never use the Blizzaks again. If I wanted a tire that was mediocre in all seasons, I would have bought all-seasons.
