Post Left a Lotus, Ferrari, and Lamburghini in the dust...

I fully expected to lose but I left 'em behind like they were standing still...

Actually they were, just sitting there in the lot of Symbolic Motors. Next time they'll make sure there's a driver in the car and their engine's running, or I'll kick their asses again.

But actually I did race a late model Lotus through the canyons the other day. I had two other people in the car with me, and he just had himself. Driving like a real jerk, actually, cut me off. It was pretty twisty, I don't think he had the confidence in his vehicle that I do, because I caught right up and in the lane next to him for the pass. At this point we were going up a 30 degree incline, and all the twists and turns were behind us. We both downshifted and he left my turbo RS in the dust (not that bad really, considering I was carrying about 350 lbs of extra weight: two extra passengers, and stuff in my trunk that I was moving to my new house). Oh well, guess I need an intercooler and 5 more pounds of boost.

Ok, I'll take this one...Tim I don't think
an intercooler is going to solve your "hot
air" problem and I think you are "boosting"
too much as it is.

Tim,
Symbolic is near you, how cool. I have seen thier website, the place is better than a museum. I don't know if the sold it but they had the 71 917 that gave Porsche its first LeMans victory.

They also had a couple of Ferrari 250LMs and a Birdcage Maserati. I love those cars from the days when the engineers were just concerned with going faster, not driver safety and comfort.

A skyline just doesn't compare

Maybe I'll roll by tonight and check on that porsche 917, it was there a few weeks ago, in all of it's up-to-my-knee-caps glory...!

One of the more..how do I put this?..... "well off" family's in our Hickville of a town just went out and purchased a 2000 Lotus from a dealership in Boston. They let their 16 year old son take it out for a day. He misjudged a dip going into the local restaurants and nailed both the front bumber and rear bumper at a good 20 mph. Later on that evening he over-rev'd it and blew the oil cap right off the motor. The car is currently back in Boston getting looked over etc...estimated 3.5 weeks.
In the meantime the father went out and bought a 2000 Porsche. I saw the kid driving that around not two days after he got it. Scary......at least teach the kid how to drive first.

How the hell can you "blow" the oil cap off? It would have been neat to see..

I'm not all that familiar with Lotus's other than the fact that I like to drool all over them but I imagine it had something to do with crankcase pressure being too high. Unsure of how it happened but it made one hell of a mess.
