Exclamation Weapon R Intake

I purchased a Weapon R Intake and was wondering if I should try to create a "cold air box" for the filter to sit in. It's in the mail so I haven't seen any of the instructions or anything, but wanted to get some opinions on what to do with it.

Cool

i think a cold box is a good idea, it can't hurt unless the box doesn't get enough air. i am currently in a group buy for a JC sports intake and i want to do the same thing. what were you planning on using? how much was you weapon r?

Cool

Silversuby,

I have installed a weapon r intake about 2 weeks ago, be prapared to fabricate that so-called mounting bracket to your own specifications! it's a bitch! Directions suck too... With that out of the way, you will love it! As far as a cold air box, I am not sure. It is basically the same as the rest of the intakes on the market (the position of the pipe and filter) so if you can get ideas from other people with other intakes, you will probably be able to apply it to the weapon-r!
I am also looking into it and as son as I think of anything I will let you know!

By the way for the burr101, I ordered mine through SPO motorsports for $160.00.

Question

OK, this may be a dumb question, but what's with the extra aluminum tube for the Weapon R intake on the MY00? I picked mine up today and it has 2 aluminum tubes. Does the short one fit in front of the long one? The instructions don't list it in the parts or explain what it's for.

PS. I paid $170 at ISR but the price has gone up to $220.

Cool

Thanks for the tips guys/gals.

I picked mine up at SPO Motorsports for $160 as well. It's a limited-time only special on the red MY00 model ONLY.

I ordered it last Thursday and have been tracking it via UPS. It should be waiting for me at home tonight, but I'm going out of town for the weekend, so I wont get it on for a while yet.

2 aluminum tube pieces! The small tubing fits directly to the throttle body then it connects to the longer tube! and at the end of that, it's the flter!

hope that helps, like I said the directions suck, and by the way have fun with the mounting bracket!

Damn, sorry, I got it mixed up, I do have the large pipe on the throttle body, I was just trying to remember, plus I am at work and my mind was not where it is supposed to be....The large pipe on the thottle body is what I meant to say!

Please forgive me.......

By the way the mounting bracket is still a bitch!

It just didnít look right with the small tube at the throttle body so I called the Weapon R technical support guys. On the MY00 the large aluminum tube connects to the throttle body. The small aluminum tube goes between the large tube and the air filter. The tech. guy stressed the bend in the small tube is there to point the filter towards the fender away from the engine.

Formula1: maybe you reversed the tubes and that's why the bracket was hard to mount?
