Guys just want to let you know there is a chance Metallica and friends might be coming to a town near you..
7/3 st.louis
7/4 baltimore
7/7 atlanta
7/8 sparta, KY
7/9 dallas
7/12 denver

7/15 LA, CA
7/16 phoenix

just wanted to give everyone the heads up, great show! i caught it foxboro, MA. Kid Rock was great, Korn was good but had some sound problems (J. Davis' mic was WAY off). But by far and away metallica was awsome tons of hard old material. catch it if you can! The show will be even better when they get the bugs out.

Metallica sold out years ago. Us true fans loved Metallica back when the mainstreamers called them Metallisuck. As far as I'm concerned the last good album they did was "...And Justice For All". Everything since then sucks. Kid Rock blows as well. He'll be another Vanilla Ice in a few years.

I stopped listening to Metallica once they made a professional video. I remember being one of two fans in Junior High School, and I remember them saying live that they'd never sell out, never do a music video, never market products outside of music. Look at the bastards now. I hope they choke on their own lawyer-speak.

I could care less about Metallica's views on Napster....The Sanitarium concert (Foxboro) was a damn fine time.

Metallica hasn't released a good album in a very long time. Their biggest and latest stupidity was playing with a symphony. The Load and Reload albums are pathetic.
I saw them in concert about three years ago, and I must say, I was very disappointed.

I really look forward to Iron Maiden touring the US since Bruce Dickinson and Adrian Smith are back. Their latest album sounds really good.

Cheers,
Marco

well you all can say how Metallica sold out, and they suck now. They may of but its the same band playing those same old great songs (master, one, justice). I haven't gotten a Metallica album since Load (which blew) but i'm not going to see that. I'm going for KORN and System of a Down. Kid rock is O.K. i guess, and as for Metallica, well I hope they play alot of old songs.

BTW I'm going to Kentucky's on the 8th. leaving on friday morning via RV with 5 others. 1200 miles round trip. And i promise to be a good boy

Cool

miracle,
i'd say they played mostly old stuff the Black album and after. i remember "seek and destroy", "one", "battery" but mostly hard music.
I loved it, i agree with most of you that they sold out but i can't blame them for trying to better themselves, can you?

As far as Napster i think it is stupid for them to be the anti-napster poster boys. It makes them look super-greedy, but what do you do if someone is taking money out of your pocket? you punch em'.

Hands down, Metallica is still the best band around. IMHO, nobody has ever blended all members into one whole as well as they have.

You can't blame them for wanting to make money. You can talk all you want about how they sold out and how you'd never do it, but I bet you'd do the same if you were in their shoes. I would. C'mon its been twenty years since they started rockin', give them a break.

Id be pretty pissed too, if people were stealling my music; their stuff is actually worth paying for...Thats hard to say about most of the CRAP thats around today.

I had dreams of making it big, but once you really start trying, you realise how difficult it is to just make good music, let alone a buck. I don't blame them one bit for that, they've paid their dues....and then some.

As for the recent material...been ok but not great. But then again, Its amazing that they put out as much quality stuff as they did. Justice was the last of the great albums as a whole, but there have been good songs on so-so albums since. I really want to hear another instrumental, Orion is nuts!!

I really dig the S&M stuff, getting four guys to play together is hard enough(trust me) but playing with a full symphony orchestra is pretty wild. I was a part of a full band as well as a Trying-to-rock band so I know how hard it is to make it all come together.

IMHO, you haven't really experienced music if you haven't listed to some classical music. You not only hear it, you FEEL every note that is played. Metallica hits you in the same way.

Ive always been a fan of Classical stuff; it takes REAL talent to make your instrument sing and to stir up people emotions. Wouldn't it be interesting to see what Beethoven could've done with metallica?? People would lose their minds I tell you!!

We should just all be thankful that they didn't turn out like Guns n' Roses. Poor Axl.....that man need serious help.

Hehe, Yeeman, wanna hear some real "symphonic" rock? Try Yes (70's) or Genesis (Gabriel era of course). Oh and the current Yes tour is unbelievable. Talk about making your instrument sing and what not...phew...And they've been rockin for 30+(!) years!

(btw, the first band I ever liked was Metallica, when I was 6. Now I've graduated to bigger and better things, though I'm always down with a little Kill'em All)

Robert, good call on the Yes and Gabriel era Genesis. Good stuff, if you like music with many notes. Ah, Genesis. A great example of why you should never let a DRUMMER sing. J/K (or am i?)
