Talking Saw a Brat today!

I saw a light blue Brat with a cap on the bed today on Gratiot. I was surprised at how nice the body was considering those things were notorious rust-buckets! Only a little rust at the tailgate. Pretty rare sight around here.

That brings back memories.... I had a 1984 BRAT, black with the suicide seats in the back as my first car.

Thumbs up

My Dad had 3 different ones, each had over 150K miles on it before it rusted out. Really fun in the snow, the things ran forever but the body always gave out.

I had two - an '80 and an '82 both GLs with white caps which I only put on when I had to. The '82 had that third light behind the flip up emblem in the grill.

This brings up an interesting question - how come my lowly BRATs both had better standard gauge packages than my RS? Speedo, tach, fuel, water temp, oil pressure and volts. You'd think a performance car would come standard with those things. Oh well, just my $.02

I think Nederland, CO is the retirement home for Brats, they're everywhere and are rusty, even here.

That's funny, I just saw one too, up in North Carolina in the mountains right by the Nantahala river. It was a burgundy one.
