Hey, while your out experiencing the outside world stop over at the vwvortex. A huge collection of DubHeads(like 20K membership). Few kill stories(I mean come on, their Dubs ) and a great atmosphere. Everybody over there seems more interested in the WRX right now than in anything the Volkswagen group is making.

It is good to see that there are other boards that do not bash other makes and have a fresh outlook to others cars out there.
If you are a true car lover no car is off limits. Just my $.02
I did check out a couple of Saturn clubs, We have a 94 SC2, and there just seemed to be no traffic at the sight. posts were very out dated. I like my Saturn also but no one else seems to be. Oh weel that is why i like coming here, at least I know there are people enthusted as much as I am about the RS.

Question

And nissan guys out there...what do you think about this? Anyone familiar with SCC should know i stole this directly from Dave Coleman.

I must admit, this idea of a swap into an s13 is not my own. But is still very interesting to think about. here it goes...
My plan starts wiht the VQ30DE-k, the often praised but seldom used Maxima engine. But wait, the Maxima has its engine mounted transversely, and the 240sx needs a longitudinal engine. The solution to that problem just appeared...the 2000 pathfinder now has a VQ35DE pointed straight to the back wheels under it's great big SUV hood. Grab a few doner manifolds and, more important, a doner bellhousing. The rear-wheel dive , five-speed pathfinder happens to have a transmission that is closely related to the twin-turbo 300zx transmission, so a Pathfinder bellhousing can be used to bolt a 300zx transmission to the VQ30DE-k. Now living in San Diego, I am pretty lucky to live close to Jim Wolf technology, who I have already told about this idea.

What are your thoughts? Ideas? Possible? Not possible?

Thanks everyone, I'd a first time poser, uhh i mean poster so be nice please.

How about this for exquisite machinery...300 naturally aspirated horsepower!
Some new info for you guys about this particular swap. A VQ30 gets its 3.0 liters from a big 93-mm bore and a tiny 73.3-mm stroke, the older VG30 uses a smaller 87.1-mm bore and a much longer 83.1-mm stroke. So putting a VG crank in a VQ would give you a still undersquare 93 x 83.1-mm, resulting in a 3,387 cc engine. A VQ34DE would inevitably end up making quite a bit more power than a VQ30 (about 300hp, and may I remind you that it's still an NA engine.)

Normally adding 10 mm to the stroke would screw up the rod/stroke ratio, causing increased side loads on the pistons, more violent piston acceleration, and higher piston speeds, not to mention changes in ideal cam and ignition timing. The VQ30 starts with a rod ratio of nearly 2:1, however, which is extraordinarily high (and part of why that engine is so smooth) Adding a VG30 crank drops the rod/stroke ratio to around 1.7:1, which is pretty close to ideal!

How about that to chew on for a bit?

Thanks Dave Coleman!

Post Speaking of good bulletin boards...

I went to www.freshalloy.com to pitch my crazy engine swap idea to some nissan enthusiasts when i was pleasantly surprised that "nissan people" are very similar to us. It's a pretty cool board with a minimal amound of "kill stories" Anywhoo...They're also talking about the new WRX. Many want to buy one since an S15 coming over here doesn't seem very likley.
