Question Trailer and RS

I think I've seen most previous posts about using trailers - and stil have some questions. Does anyone have any experience pulling a small(ish) trailer with a 5-speed RS (or 5-speed anything? My trailer carries a 14.5' boat and 25 HP outboard. I think this trailer is about 800 - 900 lbs total. I have always pulled it with my automatic shift Camaro, but I don't really have room for two cars. I am just wondering if the 5-speed tranny makes it more complicated.
Also do the hitches available to the RS (Drawtite and Delan (?)) come with the removable insertable piece which contains the trailer ball? Thanks for any info. A

If the Drawtite hitch is a "reciever" hitch then the tow ball will come out.

I'm planning on getting a trailer to tow my scooter around.

I believe the towing capacity is like 1200 lbs or somewhere around there...plenty for something small...

Guess I can get used to pulling a boat with a 5-speed (might even be easier). I'll stick the boat/trailer behind the Suby, check for rear view vision and then get the hitch installed.
BTW, I know a WRX auto tranny wagon would do a terrific job of pulling a boat (among other things) - but must try to resist temptation here.

I have a MY00 RS Coupe 5-speed. I have a three place motorcycle trailer and can pull three bikes easly. 70mph is no problem, just make sure your trailer has good tires. I have a Draw-tite hitch. Any questions email me.

Does anyone have photos of an RS with a hitch installed? I have a '00 Sedan I am thinking could benefit from one.

Talking

I haven't had a computer for a couple of days (getting upgraded) and just read some of these posts. I believe that Draw-tite hitches are simply bolted on, to pre-existing holes - and I have seen some posts which say trailer hitches add rear stiffness (good). Hitches may or may not fit with some after-market exhaust systems.
I was looking in the manual and it said a RS can pull up to a 1500 lb. trailer. It also says that trailer brakes should be used if the trailer is over 700 lbs. Also there is trailer tongue weight to consider. There are lots of places in Seattle, and I'm sure elsewhere, that can install hitches and wiring. I am going to go ahead with this and should know a lot more soon. A

Unhappy

Looks like you can't attach a hitch if you have a Scoobysport muffler - gotta think about this some, now. I have the original performance muffler - but don't hardly want it back on.
There's a price to pay sometimes, with some aftermarket goodies. A

Thumbs up

Draw-tite has a web site www.draw-tite.com This web site lists local hitch dealers. The part # is: 24634 (Sportframe Hitch) and #3593 (Drawbar Part). The G.T.W. weight-carrying capacity is 2000 lbs. Tongue weight capacity is 200 lbs. No drilling required. I had a quote of $94.96 for the hitch.
