Thumbs down

I've already seen a VW with the hood scoop on it. Why do they get the hoods though? Its not like they can mount a IC ontop like we can. To have them steal our rear wing is one thing but if they start trying to steal the hoods just to take the vents and scoop. I believe this is the same thing the UK people get with the Boy Racer types. They don't care if it is slow as long as it has huge wings, rims, and vents.

I think I saw a wings west kit that made a civic look like an EVO IV.

Oh well, its not like the scoops are going to be any less functional on a civic than they are on the stock Impreza RS. If it were my car I'd go for the Lancer Evo type hood that they mentioned. It would be functional in two aspects. 1 lets hot air out of the engine bay. 2 creats downforce by redirecting the air comming in the front of the car out the top of the hood.

Can't those insecure civic owners be themselves?! If you like the loof of an Impreza, then get one! Stop copying us!!! I feel like posting there now. But I shall not defile myself by signing up there. So someone pls put that guy in place and let him know to stick with his ever boring civic look. I've alreayd saw a hactback civic that looked like an OBS from a far! Soon ppl will think my car is a riced up civic!

I wonder if I could fit a hood from a Civic or Accord on my Impreza... maybe I'd get stopped less (or attract less birds swooping at the car).

I just think its funny that these guys have like the largest aftermarket industry yet they are buying Subaru OEM parts to "improve" their ride. Heres a pic someone on clubsi posted. Put on a 2.5RS wing and listed it as a performance mod.

So that increases our chances of getting our rear wings stolen, now doesn't it? *sigh*

No matter what you argue, it's true. There are plenty of adolescent Civic owners out there that have no respect for other people's property. I mean, look at the number of posts regarding their SI badges being swiped!

Actually, I think that wing looks pretty sharp on the Si. Of course, I've seen Si's with an optional Honda wing that is very similar in height and design, so I'm not sure why you would go with the Subie wing rather than the Honda wing. Whatever floats yer boat, I guess.

Anyway, I think *some* people need to get over their fixation with Hondas. "Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery" or something like that. If a couple Honda drivers decide to put Subaru stuff on their cars, who gives a damn?! So 5 out of a million Civics on the road have a Subaru look-alike hood scoop. What's to get upset about? I'm just not sure I understand why people get so offended by this stuff. Whatever...

Here's the latest one. People aren't stopping at badges anymore. i know of four or five people with SiR's (Si for you in the states) that had the RIMS taken (factory 15" rims, not aftermarket), as well as badges and the DOHC stickers off the side of the cars. And, saw a 2.5 spoiler on a hyundai the other day...*shudder*

First of all, any civic with a hood scoop is rice(unless it is functional)! Second, the RS isn't the first car to have a hood scoop. It won't be the last. It just allows more people to see a car with a hood scoop, and how nice it can look.

Any car with a hood scoop and no top-mount IC is rice.
Factory rice is still rice.

The civic bashing needs to calm down a bit. You guys drive Subaru's, not Lambo's!

Here, here!

Factory rice is definitely still rice.

And yes, as kick ass as the US RS Impreza is, its not much higher on the food chain as a civic. Not that I am huge honda fan. I actually prefer the Peugeot 106/206 XSI or the new Renault Clio sport as far as hatches go. Too bad you can't get them here.

We're not bashing the Civics. Just the tacky taste of a number of Civic owners. What's next? AWD badges on Civics?

Right now, the hood scoop is an Impreza icon. And for a Civic to put one on "from a Subaru" is just plain bad taste. How many Civics run around with Supra wings? I've seen a few of them here in the mid-Atlantic.

Rice or no rice, putting it on yourself is just cheesy. I don't get it sometimes that if civic and any other Honda products were deemed boring designed cars, then why would these ricers want to buy them? I know a guy who sepnd CND60K on his civic. But it has this turbo and stuff like that. And I thought with that money he could've bought an S4 and still get better interior and AWD. .... in a f few decades time there prolly will be a sociology course dedicated to this culture.
Yup i agree with Fast Si that factory rice is still rice. That would then make alot of cars rice then. Pinstripes, alloy wheels, wing at the back, ribbed (a la Grand Ams), fog lights etc.... All rice!

"What's next? AWD badges on Civics?" - Snoopy

Actually I'm surprised none of them have done this yet. I had heard somewhere that legally if your car has to be towed, that if you have an AWD badge/stickre on your car, they have to put it on a flatbad since they can't tow it normally and screw up the drivetrain. Personally, if I had a slammed Civic or something, I'd MUCH rather have my car on a flatbed.

I'm not sure quite how that works though, I personally leave my car in gear when I park it since I never trust parking brakes (had a car that rolled out of a friends driveway and ended up across the street against a curb a long time ago), so how would they tow a car that is in gear? Especially an AWD one...

Don't feel too sucure most towing companies and the NYC DOT just slide under with a crow bar and pop it out and tow it away! I've seen it many times
