Post Royce Gracie loses

Well I guess there is a few good points to there being an Anti-American protest going on. My company who had me scheduled to work this weekend and next week has got me sitting at home with pay. So I'm hanging out and watching TV. I turn past one of the Sky Perfect channels and immediately stop. Its the Pride Gran Prix 2000! Its basically a huge contest where people from as many backgrounds as possible get together and fight. A better version of the Ultimate Fighting thing. Well the very first amtch was Royce Gracie against a Japanese pro wrestler. I thought it was going to be boring. Not a F-ing chance. I'm not sure what kind fo pro wrestler this guy was but he beat Royce Gracie like a drum. The match had rounds just like boxing but the rounds were 10min each. By the end of the second Gracie has a cut down the length of his cheek, a swollen right eye, a welt above his left, his lip is completely split and he more or less got carried to his corner. In the middle of the second round one of his family members got out the towel and almost threw it in. Maybe they should have cause minutes later the Japanese wrestler jumps in the air and lands on Gracie hitting him in the face. It reminded me of when Homer Simpson tried boxing. Just stand there and let him hit you until he gets tired Homer. Maybe Gracie should have tried a different strategy? Either way that was just the first match. rsquire let me know if you want this dubbed onto tape with the Top Gear episodes? Just think watching fights was covered in the B*stard test. That should bring me up above the 60% mark now.

The end fight was between a Russian ex-Olympic wrestler and some American guy I have never heard of. The American guy (Mark Coleman) won. The last match was pretty boring though. The Russian slipped and fell. It was over from there.

Have a Nice Day?

Royce Gracie lost?! are you kidding me? i watched all his UFC fights and used to kick everyone's butt. His corner threw in the towel on him once in a UFC match but aside from that i dont think he ever lost a UFC match. Wow that Japanese wrestler must have been very good to beat Royce. Especially since Royce is a superb grappler. Oh well. Mark Coleman also fought in UFC. He's quite good as well. *shrug* i guess you cant win em all....

Coleman jumped onto the Russian guy and knee'd him in the head at least 15 times before the Russian finallly gave in and asked for the ref to stop it. Tell you what though I would have asked for help after the first one. This guy drove his knee down into the guys face and into the top of his head. Sorry but the only way I'd go into the ring with his is if I had a gun. I may try to go to one of these events down in Sendai.

This is funny. The first time I drove the WRX STi v.III press car was the same day I had dinner with a whole bunch of UFC guys (Big John McCarthy, Oleg Tactarov, Bob Merovitz, etc,.) What a weird coincidence.

Mark Coleman has fought in a UFC. He is one tough SOB. I think the one he was in he fought one of Dan Severns fighters. Beat the dog poop out of him. He is a very strong fighter.

Colman beat Don Frye (hope i can remember these names) twice to earn his UFC noteriety: however, he had a 40-50lb advantage over Frye. Maurice Smith exposed Colman as being pretty one dimensional.

I guess it was destiny that Royce was gonna lose sooner or later.

Their pop, Helio Gracie, was pretty awesome in his day. I like the was Rickson Gracie fights because he is so much more brutal than Royce. I used to take up Gracie Jiujitsu in Philly for about 3 months but it interfered with my work schedule to much so I stopped. I love their fighting style and it inspired a lot of confidence, maybe to much. Royce was responsible for upgrading your belt in a fighting match if you felt you were ready.

The place I trained at is a Gracie Jiujitsu academy that was right on South Street. I don't know if it's still there.

Rickson Gracie is way tougher than Royce.

There is one guy I'd like to see fight against anyone and that's Marco Ruas.
