Talking MY2K drop in K&N review!

My K&N from iSR Performance arrived today ! I installed it as soon as I got home and then took the RS out for a test drive. The filter got rid of ALL the hesitation during acceleration! The car definitly pulls harder, I am very, very happy.

Is the car faster you ask, I don't know. But for the price of about 2 factory replacement filters I got a reuseable filter that makes the car feel 100% better during acceleration .

ImprezaRS2000 - It only took about three days to get it to my house! And 5 minutes to install!

Fishguy - No gaskets or anything else needed, it replaced the factory filter perfectly!

I did not reset the ECU, the ecu constantly learns and adjusts to the readings the sensors are giving it so it will "learn" the best settings for the car with the K&N soon enough. IMHO

Question

Just the part number (K&N) would be good... Many shops here can order, besides their overhead should be less than shiping from GA...

Hey Opie, I'd watch your mileage if I were you... I've installed an intake (even slightly changed my current configuration) and ended up getting horrible gas mileage because of it until I reset the ECU. I've actually installed my cold-air intake and managed to get a really-rich 13mpg. Yes, thirteen miles per gallon!

Beware the mileage on MY00's.

HomerJay-

48.95 delivered. Give them a call, thier email didn't work either. I've talked to Scott and Erin both, pretty nice people. Do a search on the classifieds, and you should find the email from Scott on this. Mention the I-club too. I belive the title was "Good Deal on K&N" on something like that posted by NickCat.

Question

Does anyone know if the 2000 Legacy GT uses the same filter as the RS? I want to get my friend one from a local shop but I need the part # because they don't have a 2000 book .

Hey JJ, Thanks! I saw that post by NickCat but I wanted to make sure of the price. Always helps to get some reassurance.

8Complex - After installing the K&N I took a 120 mile trip to Orlando and back and got 28.7 MPG which is about the same highway mileage as I was getting before the K&N. I'll keep an eye on it though.

Actually, that p/n is listed as a filter for 2000 Subaru GT on Summit Racings homepage. List on Summit is $40.69 + Shipping

Opie,

See the "What kind of intake do *YOU* have" thread for My $0.02.

8Complex,

I looked at your intake. I was thinking of opening up my factory plenum (although not quite that much). Do you think it could have been a loss of vacuum that caused your poor gas mileage? (low vac, ECU thought you were at WOT, gave more gas, run rich...) Perhaps the reset helped it figure it out.

8,

one more thing. You're probably not getting a good seal around that filter. You may be drawing dirty air into your engine. I'd never try that in AZ with all the dust we have. Just a friendly warning. I'd hate to see you grind your rings off.
