You know, I don't think I have ever seen a 2.5 RS road racing in the States. If one were to race anywhere, I'd guess Motorola Cup, but I have never seen one in their C2K (Compact) class. Check if the car is even listed: www.motorolacup.com.

Most everyone here in Utah region SCCA races in STS (street touring-street tire) class with suspension mods and intake/exhaust mods. If you have any internals or a turbo on your car you would be in SM (street mod) class.

Yeah, are you talking about SCCA, or talking about redlight racing?

If its the latter, I highly recommend you read the opening word in this month's SCC. I don't want to get into a debate here about the negative aspects of redlight racing, but its a great article and I hope more people take it to heart...

Thumbs up

I'll be prepping my RS sedan for track events.

Right now, I'm broke. I expect 4 pot brakes, wheels to match my race tires, harnesses and a suspension when I land some cash. Not setting the car up for any organization- I just was a fast sedan to scare the M3s and 911s.

I'd like to see what 'set ups' people are using for the Impreza for tracks.

Cool

I'm getting mine ready for SOLO II. I'm hoping that my sponsors cover most of the cost. We haven't worked out the details but I do have firm commitments.

We really mean "Road Racing" as in Motorola Cup or SCCA PRO Racing or RIP IMSA.
My curiosity is because here in Puerto Rico we have two 2.5RS Imprezas ('98 & '00)in the stock class and one of them won the championship, and if you are acquainted on how competitive Import Drag racing is here, that would give you an idea of how is the competition.
So if an 2.5RS Impreza could be so competitive in (at least stock until now) How come there isn't anyone else doing it in the US?
We are testing just about everything we can (within the rules) and keeping only what really works, so we don't just use what other people say is good but what we have proved to be good.
We would also like to exchange this type of proven information with anyone else involed in road racing as we are?
Thanks,

when I'm rich and famous (well, not really famous) and can affod to turn the RS into an all out race car I plan on doing some SCCA club racing. A bit of a dream of mine is to road race. Someday, might not be that far away either if things go as planned

Good question on why no road racing 2.5 RS's up here. In Motorola Cup's C2K class, the Civic Si is the car to beat followed by the Miata. Both are somewhat semi-factory supported, which makes beating them tough. (And please, no anti-Civic Si or Miata comments--I have one of each.)

In SCCA Pro Racing's Speedvision World Challenge Touring class, the Integra Type R and BMW 3 Series are the top cars. Not sure how much support they're getting, but the Type R has been fully developped. Currious to see if the WRX gets classed and how it does. Early in 2000 I heard someone was going to run a Mitsubishi Lancer, but never saw it. Had some people concerned, however.
