Talking race with 2000 cobra...

Well I got off work and saw a stang in front of me and he was jumping the throttle alot....so naturally, it was on! we were already moving and he left me, but not enough to imprez me. We turned onto an entrance ramp to a highway and the ramp just happened to be curvy...needless to say, magazines are full of it, especially American. There is no way a cobra, that is a new one, con hold the skid pad as well as they say! Why, because I couldn't get too full throttle in the turns! He was tippin' the boat in those turns! BUUUTTT...at the end of the entrance and on the highway...well, you know. Oh yeah, my car is completely stock.

Sorry, pal, but I think you ran into either a bad driver or a fake Cobra.

The newer Cobras with the IRS are the first Mustangs that can really handle. I've watched them at autocrosses, and it's obvious that they can corner. I owned an SVT Contour for a while and every time I was at the dealer I just drooled over the prospect of a 320hp car that could actually turn left and right. Fortunately, the $32K price tag was enough to snap me out of it!

Not to downplay your experience, and at least you admitted that he smoked you on the straights!

What are you talking about?

American magazines are full of it?

They can't hold a skidpad like they say they can? Sure they can, just maybe not on a bumpy road, but then again the new Cobras should be pretty decent because they have a fully independent suspension & big meaty tires.

Plus, there is no such thing as a 2000 Cobra.

No problem, that means it was a '99 with the IRS & almost 305 hp if they got the recall fixes.

Sucks to hear about the Cobra R... guess mass produced American cars have enough problems, let alone a tiny limited production run of a not-exactly trouble free Mustang. I would use that money to pick up a Corvette Z06.

Watcher, I think they tried everything from freer-flowing exhausts to new intake manifolds for the recalls, but power is still pretty far from 305hp. Ford internal memos show that actual power on production vehicles ranged from 240-260hp. Needless to say, I'd be pissed if I bought one. http://www.blueovalnews.com has lots of news on the lawsuit and recalls.
