Post Three car drag race and one dead pedestrian

FYI...

I wouldn't want to be that guy/gal's shoe right now... The whole city is waiting for this person to be caught... I feel sorry for the family of the pedestrian.

Police close in on Porsche driver

VANCOUVER (CKNW/AM980) -- Vancouver police say it won't be long before they pick up the driver of an expensive Porsche sportscar involved in a fatal hit-and-run early Thursday morning.

The distinguishable car was one of three drag-racing at speeds up to 200 km/h along Knight Street. Witnesses say it hit a pedestrian who was crossing on a green light at 57th Avenue.

Police have determined there are fewer than a dozen yellow Porsche Boxsters on the road throughout B.C. and most of them can be found on the streets of the Lower Mainland.

ICBC, the motor vehicle branch and outside police agencies have helped Vancouver investigators narrow their search.

Police are optimistic the driver will be in custody within days.

Well, it's pretty hard to avoid 3 cars traveling at 120 mph...

...not a good idea off the racetrack!

Ok, I don't get it.

This guy can afford a new Boxster, but he doesn't have the brains not to race in an area with people walking around?

I guess life just isn't fair.

You gotta watch it when walking, last week here some woman was killed walking down the sidewalk at 3:30am. Some dumba$$ was drunk and driving to fast lost control and hit her. She was killed instantly, of course the driver wasnt injured.

A week ago an old lady and husband were walking down a bike path at night when a truck struck the old lady throwing her into a pond next to the path. The truck then went into the pond as well. Two drunk men got out and fled the scene. This wasn't even next to a road, it was off in the woods. The drunks broke through the gate to get onto the path.

Too bad for the pedestria
Makes you think twice about crossing a road even when the light is green!
I mean, it sounds like it is safer crossing o red, since you pay attention to the trafiic, and when you cross on green, you just assume that cars will stop, but some are just too stupid, not paying attention, drag racing, or color blind!
Once again, IT SUCKS!

Take care

Have a Nice Day?

Wow. I really hope they find him soon and never ever let him drive again. Deepest sympathies to the pedestrian's family.

THAT WHY I HATE STREET RACING!!!!
I posted a thread on Thursday that I called "Got beat by a Maxima 00SE". It was really a mock of street racing, but nobody read it.

This kind of thing is very personal to me. I rolled my Accord 5yrs ago following a race w/a muscle car. It was stupid. It cost me 7 staples,36 stitches, a separated shoulder they couldn't fix, about $4000 after insurance covered the other 6 in medical, my car, and many scars, both mental and physical(inlcluding the 6" gash on my head and a 4" diameter "road rash" scar on the top of my head where my head bounced down the highway!!

2 Lessons learned:
Street Racing is Stupid
Seatbelts save lives( I'd be beheaded instead of scarred if I wasn't strapped)

Drive safe this weekend. OK?

With you all the way Dude..

I've also punched out windscreens etc at fully sanctioned events.

Street racing is simply the chlorine in the gene pool of life.. just for the uni-brain celled people.

Ok, a little background info for you guys. The street where they were racing on, is a big 3 lane street. PLENTY of visiblity, even at speeds of up to 200km/h. And they were coming uphill I think, either way, they had PLENTY of time to SEE the RED light and stop. They didn't, and the Boxster hit the guy. Really sad thing to read about first thing in the morning before going to work on the same road. And the thing is, just a couple days before the police announced a crackdown on speeding on that stretch of road, now thanks to that yahoo rich KID Boxster, they're gonna be even crazier. Going to work and coming back I saw Mr. Yellow vest standing at the side of the road with a radar gun looking very stern. Now traffic is gonna be slow~ Sucks..

My heart goes out to all those who suffer. i know i am not the best to be saying this since i do race around town. But it makes me think twice and three times.

I really cut back since i found SCCA & the pineapple fields here so i can rally. If you want to race i say find out about your local track. i don't have a link for scca but it is all over the place. and atleast up there you can travel to a different one. here you got what you got on this little rock

I never got pulled over so much untill i got my Y2K RS. The car does have its down falls. like popo harassing and others wanting to race. Just hold back and tell em meet em at the track.

Did you know that deffensive drivers are involved in less accidents than offensive ones. I am not trying to defend anyone its just a fact.

Here's an update taken from a local news radio station's web site:

Charge laid in hit-and-run
VANCOUVER (CKNW/AM980) -- A charge of criminal negligence causing death has been laid against Kwok Kei Cliff Tang. Tang turned himself into police Friday night in connection with a fatal hit-and-run accident on Thursday on Knight St. He is free Saturday afternoon on a number of conditions including not being allowed to drive. Constable Anne Drennan says the police investigation is far from complete. Drennan says there are two other cars that were involved which are now being sought. The three cars were involved in a race south on Knight St. They ran a red light at 57th Ave. where a Porsche struck and killed 35-year old Vancouver resident Jerry Kithithee. Tang has to be back in court on July 7th.

i wouldn't be able to live with myself.. i get super paranoid now because school is out.
I drive alot of back roads to get to work i'm always looking for the basketball rolling into the road followed closely behind by a kid.
I'm always getting mad at myself if i drive too fast in the twisties(sp?) when there could be kids around.
