Unhappy exhaust dilema

i am doing some research for my buddy who has a 2.5 RS and he is in the market for a new exhaust. he has the tanabe fireball muffler welded on.......but now it just sounds like crap now. sorry to say. but yea, Which would be better for the 2.5 RS?? his flanges are rotated for WRX exhausts so he has that option. Also, he is looking for "box type" or stock looking mufflers.

scooby sport axle back with borla headers?
borla catback with borla headers?
stromung catback?

he wants some power too, so headers are in. so what do you think the verdict should be? and if you have a better combo, i would like to hear it. thanks for the help.

if $$ isn't an issue, I'd probably go scoobysport axle-back with Brullen headers...

wrx77 - the whole matching iON/Brullen header-back system would be even better.

Some info here:

I have brullen headers with scoobysport catback. I only have one resonator at the moment, but am getting a hi flo cat because it's too loud.
There's alot of info available via a search.
Here's my review:

what i would do if i had more money: TWE headers, high flow cat, midpipe, with a prodrive muffler. strommung is nice too, but mine broke and it left me feeling kinda angry.

I don't know why it's not working. The link is also on the exhaust thread that's stickied.. Got the catback by trading a stromung catback.

if money is an issue, go with the mrt headerback setup, just don't get the muffler and get something else, their muffler sucks in so many ways from what everyone here says, maybe the scooby sport, or the brullen if you can get just the axel back

wrx77 - the iON/Brullen systems do NOT come in axle back only. Only cat-back and full header-back for N/A use.

If you want to go the cheap way, get the MRT's, hack off the cat the it comes with, weld a flange onto the part before the cat. Buy a better cat and flange that off. This will allow your friend to run any cat-back combo with the MRT header. Please have this ceramic coated as the mild steel is prone to faster corrosion rates.

mmmmm. icic. so doing that custom mrt header thing is a lot better to way save money and get some power? can any muffler shop to the welding of the flanges and stuff to accept any other cat back to the mrt headers? wow, the brullen looks pretty darn good. pretty hefty penny too. but i guess the quality is what you pay for eh? hmmmmm. too many nice things to choose from. gosh darn companies making such nice product. my buddy reeeeeeeeeeeally likes the brullen or the scoobysport exhaust systems. hard descision, but both are such good products.......hmmmmm.
