AutoX classification question

My freind is going to Autox for the first time this week. He drives a S4 Avant (Wagon). He has added bigger wheels and tires and Stoptech brakes. everything else is stock. what class?

I think the S4's would run SM or CSP.

I'm not sure about the CSP the more I think about it...is that where a S4 goes? I know it'll work for SM though.

I think brakes aren't open in SP... he'll probably get smoked either place so it's probably a safe bet for SM. Does he have a "chip" for it? If so SM is the place.

Correct. Calipers cannot be replaced in SP.

It meets the engine size requirements, and brakes are pretty much unrestricted in STX as long as they use the original attachment points, but the wheel width would be restricted to 8 inches or less, and tread width of 245mm or less.

If the car is STX legal, that would be a much more competitive class for the car than SM.

If it's a new one with the V8 it is indeed legal for STX. Just needs to run on the street tires.

The old S4's had a a turbo over 2L of displacement which isn't legal.

So if it's the turbo model, not legal. If it's the V8, it is legal. (That is if it meets the 8" wide & 245 width restriction. (After a little research, the 2004 S4 Avant has 18 x 8 in. rims with
P235/40ZR18 tires... legal.)

Engine size requirements? Since when is a biturbo V6 allowed in STX? Nope not legal.

"Engine size allowance: up to 5.1, normally aspirated and 2.0, forced induction (single turbo or supercharger). "

Besides the fact that the engine is too large, it has two turbos.

The New S4s have 4.xL V8s in them... no more turbos. So if it is a new one, it's legal for STX.

My mistake for assuming that his friend drives a new car.

Damn those marketing people at Audi for changing a car from a twin-turbo V6 to a normally aspirated V8 and not changing the name...
