Exclamation Jackson Should Make a Supercharger for Us!!

Why don't they make one for us?? I'm sure there'd be lots of demand if they could make one that could fit the first generation RS and the new RS. Let's all bother the heck outta them until they make one!

They supercharged a CRV, a Focus and a Miata! I'm sure the demand to supercharge Imprezas is higher than the demand for those cars!

I believe this has been brought up many times before. Someone once said that they wouldn't do it. Another said that they would need some money down (on 100 kits?) to be able to do the R&D. I don't think they will ever do it.

I am just about ready to start buying parts and then creating a custom package (read as I may never do it). The more I think about it the easier it sounds. I think the 98-99's would be easiest to do.

You have the basic parts:

Supercharger
RRFPR
Custom made intake piping
Custom made mounting brackets
H-O fuel pump
Intercooler
Fuel/engine management system

I believe that stock injectors would work for 5psi and maybe 6psi applications. Engine/fuel management would be tough though. I don't see why high octane fuel (92) and an S-AFC wouldn't work for those that want to keep it cheap. Maybe even add a water injection at WOT to ward off detonation or a system that controls an extra injector. MAF would have to be relocated

So far the companies that make superchargers for Subaru's:

Rimmer: www.rimmersuperchargers.com/
Z-Engineering: www.z-engineering-uk.com/main.html (click on "Kits Available")
Capa: www.capa.com.au/

That's all I could find. Do a search, there has been alot discussed on this topic.

You're kidding, right?

There's been a grand total of about 10,000 Impreza RSes sold. And the line doesn't have bright prospects in the future with the release of the WRX.

The Focus on the other hand had sold 228,000 cars after 18 months in production, with 46% of buyers under 35 years of age, and 24% of buyers under 25 years of age.

Even if, for some illogical and unfalsifiable reason, you say that Impreza RS owners are 20 times as likely as Focus owners to buy a supercharger, it STILL would make more sense to market towards the Focus rather than the Impreza.

Not to mention that Ford has worked a lot harder at cultivating an aftermarket for the Focus than Subaru ever has (or really is financially capable of).

Same deal for Miata...450,000 sold.

I don't know what the sales for the CRX were like but I'd be surprised if Honda has ever sold anything with sales as anemic as the RS.

Another data point: The supercharger kit that Jackson is selling for the Miata wasn't really developed by Jackson. It was sold for several years as the Sebring supercharger by Downing/Atlanta and apparently Jackson bought the rights somewhere down the line.

Don't give Oscar too much credit...

I've never seen any fixed up CRVs, Miatas or Focuses. Just my observation...
Oh yea, but out of the few Imprezas I have seen, most are fixed up

You're still kidding, right? There's a difference between people willing to drop a few hundred bucks on a new new muffler and people willing to drop a few thousand on forced induction.

If there's going to be Impreza owners buying FI anywhere, it'd be here on the i-club. And I just don't see that here. Sure, they are out there, but not enough to make a decent sized company bat their eye.

Out of the thousands of members here, how many have a turbo? Look at ASR's latest group buy...how many people were on that...ten or twelve? How many are (were) on the JC Sports groupbuy?

If I think back over all of the group buys I've seen here and all of other posts I'd guess there's maybe 100-200 FI setups total in all of the i-clubs thousands of members.

I mean, I love my car, I think the RS is great and all, but I don't let that bias my view of reality. I'm glad that companies like ASR and JC Sports and Rallispec are putting together turbo kits for my car. But I'm also not surprised when other companies pass on the Impreza for markets where they can make more money.

if you read the last scc you would have seen that there were quite a few jackson racing superchargers in miatas. IMO i think miatas are pretty tight once you get them modded. they are fast roadsters that stick to the groung and if you stick an rx7 engine in that i would not mess around. but the crx you can sketch that out and a ford, i would never buy a

I agree with you. I just don't know of many FI CRVs, Miatas and Focuses. I'm guess I'm wrong. But one correction, it's CRV not CRX. The CRV is an SUV.

Unhappy

I believe it's either going to take someone with good technical knowledge to piece one together and then put the "mod" instructions out here on the I-Club. Or it's going to take a known Supercharger vendor and a respectable American Subaru performance company to adapt the European/Australian Subaru kit to our 2.5's.

Rimmer is still out there but I don't know how their customer service is anymore.

The point was well made though. The low selling numbers of the Impreza 2.5RS just aren't going to make any heads turn with respects to R&D for FI.

How about modding a Jackson SC from a Civic or Integra to fit our cars? Dumb idea?

MagicMT - Same problem as the Subie parts worldwide. Civic - 1.5/1.6 liter, Integra 1.6/1.8 liter. RS, 2.5... I'm pretty sure that you'd need a bigger pump to make it worthwhile.

Remember though, that while there were only ~10k 2.5RS's sold, all the Legacies are 2.5's, and ALL Subies (barring WRX and H6 Outback) are now the 2.5 engine...

I think the prospects are looking better, personally

All the Foresters are 2.5L's as well.

I've been debating on building a kit myself... just wish I could get a shop to back me financially (I need a set of heads & an intake manifold before everything).

TRi keeps saying that they're coming out with anything, but I have my doubts on them...
