Depends on what you mean by 'best'.

RB5 much more compliant on the road than the 22b with stock suspension, but then you can upgrade the 22b with something like LEDA.

22b is the ultimate looker, most resembles the old WRC car. STi RA is nice too but very close ratio gears means it's not a good cruiser.

As long as it has the STi badge, you can't really go far wrong!

Tie between 22B and P1
22b has all out power & looks, P1 a little more balanced.

But for the money... a 97 Impreza L
Hey, you could strip it and make it a full out race car!

Well yeah that depends, I mean if you want performance outright, or out of the box? I mean I've seen Byron Leggett's 600hp monster Impreza sedan. And I've driven Andre Vandenberg's 300hp turbo coupe. And they're very nice, powerful cars. A blast to drive. Yet, these are highly modified cars. But out of the box, I must say that the 22B and the P1. Can't beat the 22B's looks, it just looks freaking awesome! And the performance...woosh!!! Same can be said of the P1, sans the body style and a bit more "roadliness" if you will. But if I had the chance to drive ANY Impreza, It'd be the WRC car! Well ok I still wnat the 22B ride Gotta fly!

I personally go for the 22B since it's a limited production. Only 400 is made.

I haven't seen any test on it yet... but it seems like it can be at the top of the bunch.

The best Impreza? I'd just go to Prodrive and buy a WRC.

If it has to be a street car; I'd go with the STi Type RA. The 22B is tempting, but I would want to drive the car to the limits and I would feel guilty flogging a car that has such limited production.

STi Type R. That's what the 22b was based on. It is more streetable than the 22b. (I wouldn't know... )
And it was actually tested against the P1 and it beat it thanks to better WOW feeling.
