Default Wiring... shielding speaker wire from power wire

In all the stereo installation threads and guides (including Crutchfield guide), there is mention of keeping the pre-amp RCA cables as far away from the power wire to avoid interference.

Does the same hold true for speaker wire. Do I need to keep my speaker wires away from the power wire?

Right now, my speaker wires run right next to my 4 gauge power line, and I can't perceive any interference or ill effects. I'm about to swap out to a 1/0 gauge wire, and I thought I might rearrange the placement to keep the power away from the speaker wire.

I can see how it could be a bigger issue for the RCA cables, since there is very little voltage and current running through these cables compared to the speaker wires.

It is very unlikely you would pick up any interference from your power wire through your speaker wire. Your reasoning is spot on.

I would not worry about it.
