Question Need some advice on Suspension Setup

I currently have AGX/Eibach setup and looking to upgrade for better handling. Yet, coilover might be too much (expensive) for me though. Any other strut/spring setup would be ideal for me? I already have aftermarket swaybars.

Does anyone have a picture of Koni strut?

Andy

You probably want stiffer springs. Eibachs are designed to be only as stiff as the stock struts can handle, the AGXs can handle more. There's good spring rate info here.

The Prodrives do indeed rock with the AGX.

can anyone confirm the rock-ness factor of the Prodrive Springs on the AGX's or is this heresay?

id like to get some nice entry-level coilovers for my 01 RS, but, if the Prodrive/AGX combo is as good as you say, i may have to look into such a setup... or something w/ similar rates; the STi/SPT springs apparantly have very similar rates as the Prodrive P1's.

SPT/STi /// 217 /// 190 /// Subaru
Prodrive P1 /// 215 /// 195 /// Prodrive

Actually, i see on that web page that the STi Ver 6. springs are even stiffer @ 237 on the front and 195 in the rear... these springs SHOULD swap right onto my MY01 RS right... since i have a Ver. 6?

kthxbye
Chris

I HAD the Eibach's(171F, 160R) on both stock struts(great) and with the AGX's which were good for rough road areas but too soft, really. I would have stayed with the Eibach's, I think, but I installed Noltec camber/caster front tops and these increased the front ride height by ~3/4" which made the car look like it did from the factory....too high in the front...Sooooo...

I now have the AGX's and RS*R's(216F, 177R). The drop with the RS*R's is listed at -1.8"F and -1.2"R and I find this to be correct for my install. I got the 1/2" more front drop I wanted to compensate for the Noltec tops.
I went from 3/3 on the AGX's to 2/3 and I may go to 2/2 for daily use.
I don't think I'm going back to the Eibach's any time soon.

i honestly dont think the Eibachs would be good for any amount of spirited driving considering they are quite a negligible increase in spring rate... i dont think +20 lb/in Frnt and +40 lb/in rear is gonna put me where i want to be... maybe in the rear, but not after considering that the rear is apparantly progressive rate and is pretty supple

anywho, sounds like your setup is probably about what im going for but i really like what i hear about the STI springs and the Ver 6 rates are right about where i want to be, especially w/ a full-weight sedan. id actualy like to be about 10-20 lb/in stiffer than what you are running now... but, right now, these are my options:

STi Ver 6
Prodrive P1
STi/SPT

and, im thinking ill probably end up using the AGX's for sure, ive already got a set on my DSM and they work well w/ the Intrax springs. but, ill probably get the Springs first and then get the AGX's when the stock struts blow out.

now my only problem is trying to find a place to get these springs at a decent price... its been so long since ive played w/ scoobies; ive been away messing w/ FC's, DSM's and Supras

btw, how much were those Noltec strut tops and where did you get dem from?

Call Nino for the tops....~$250
Call Gruppe-S for the RS*R's....$195 shipped....and

Call p-s-t.com for the AGX's...$389 shipped.

w3rd, thanks for the input... i hope people still carry GC8 stuffs... its getting hard to differentiate between topics involving GD's and GC's these days... the GC stuff and GD info is all mixed together.

im looking for at some JDM GC8 stuff right now, im gonna try to post a few pics to see if anyone can ID the parts im lookin at, cuz the springs are blue... not pink, so i dont think they are STI.

I run the P1s. For autox they are very competitive. The street ride is good on the highway and OK in town.
Koni are said to be much better than the AGX, but the cost more too.
I think the P1s are the best value because the V5s will be pricey.

The eibach pro can be fine too. An RS with them and AGX won STS at nationals in 2000.

hemm, i just got soured by the AGX's on my DSM. i just tried to adjust the fronts and its frozen... the weak-ass plastic center peice just flexes and twistes but doesnt turn the shaft that it sits on... im afraid im gonna strip the head of it where the screwdriver goes in..

i knew those piece-of-***** plastic screw-pieces were gonna be the end of me as soon as i got these. so right now, im STUCK on 3 in the front and i still bottom out and i cant crank it up to 4.

AGX's are TEH SUXOR!...
