It's gonna be a hard decision if it comes out the same time as the turbo impreza.

Nah...two different cars, two different outlooks. Besides...the rotary people are almost as stuck in their ways as the AWD people.

Thumbs down

LOL! i guess this post is for me? Well, i'm a bit biased i guess but i do love my rotor power! Anyways, sorry guys but the 3rd gen RX isnt coming back to the U.S.. It's been out since 1991 and is due for a re-design next year. But if they did come back i'd buy one right quick! There's a possibility that the 4th gen RX could get imported here but i'd say thats a longshot because i dont think american Mazda can justify a demand, plus with the EPA getting even stricter, i dont think the Wankel would pass no matter how much "cleaner burning" it is now. They've got a non-turbo twin rotor in Japan making 280hp@10,000rpm, it'd be interesting to see that motor with a Turbo on it. Just my thoughts.

The third gen RX7 STARTED to be imported in 91. It finished, if I am correct in either 94,95, or 96. There weren't many years that it was here, that's for sure. =(

The Japan only A-Spec sure is a wicked looking car

the third gen in the US was produced from 1993-1995 in the standard, R1, and Touring packages.. each had a slightly different suspension.. the touring was more plush, while the r1 had stiffer bilstiens. All had the same motor and all were twin turbos. 1992 was the last year of the second generation turbo II with the same motor but a single turbo and top mounted intercooler.
We will most likely never see another wankel wonder in the US for the emissions reasons Rotrpowr discussed.. they are dirty.. dirty.. dirty little motors..

mike

Just for the record.. the jap spec rx7's are pushing over 300 hp and if they brought another one over here I would own it in a heartbeat.. even over the 2001 wrx turbo.. I have a softspot for rotaries ever since my third gen went up in smoke

pistons? Wee dont neeed no stiinking pistons!
