Post WRX tuning co. from AU


I found this link when browsing around this morning. It is an AU company which has a product line for the WRX. Looks interesting. Anyone ever hear from them before? Here is their WRX section.

Check out this huge FMIC

Anyone want to talk to them about US applications?

i am wondering....
thoes front mounted IC's must do a better job of cooling down the intake air...
so why not use one of those...and better yet why dont ppl use both the front mounted and plug it into a top mounted cooler as well.
this way you get 2 IC's where all other cars have to just put up with a front mounted cooler

Well thats more tubeing you have to put into the engine which get very cramped in there and you lose more pressure because of so much tubeing and the two IC's

I'm no turbo expert, but i think the extra plumbing that the air has to travel through would cost a decrease in performance...

The front mounted intercooler creates more turbo lag. Unless you race/rally and have all the rest of the mods don't even think about it.

If you cool the intake charge with a front mounted inter ooler, you wouldn't want to run it through a top mount after that (it would have to be second because it's right behind throttle body). You wouldn't want to do that because the top mount would soak up some heat from the engine bay and serve as a intercooker. If you're going to do a front mount, that's all you need.

My roommate has a Miata with 260 rwhp, and he has been telling me about a problem the Miata people have been getting with their massive front mount intercoolers. When they take their cars to the track they will overheat after 1 or 2 laps because much of the air flow through the radiator is being blocked by the intercooler.

Considering that even the most aggressive Scooby tuners are only trying to boost the EJ25 to anywhere between 12-16 psi, I think that we are ok with the smaller top mount intercooler. I could be wrong, but it seems like those massive front mount units are only needed with a turbo that's building 20+ pounds of boost.

This IC may very well be for large boost applications, since it is for a WRX with it's low(er) compression.

Elsewhere on the site they make a claim of their 500+ hp WRX. I will try to find the link.
