I am in no way trying to screw up your sale, but just want to let the 2002/2003 folk know that this is not a simple swap like it is with the JDM units. Can't comment on the 2004's, but you will need some SLIGHT modification to get it to work.

Again, I hope I'm not screwing up your sale, but thought it would be fair to mention it.

No problem.

That's why I am INCLUDING the STI IC mounting brackets as well. The brackets on the US WRX have 2 holes, 1 set for stock IC and another for JDM STI IC. The US STI falls right in between these holes because of the width.

With the STI IC brackets, it should be a direct bolt on.

Please don't let the above post scare you away from this. This is a simple bolt on afair when you have the STI mounts.

Will I need anything extra for a 2004 WRX or will this be an easy install without modding?

Ho0n - what I mentioned above did NOT take into consideration that the kind gentleman will be including the necessary bracket. You should have no problems with this conversion!

Free bump since I might've startled some people as I didn't know the bracket was going to be included!

Since you are going FMIC and have thoughtfully provided most everything needed - it should be pointed out (unless I am mistaken) the WRX splitter will not seal to this TMIC and the STi splitter will not fit under the WRX scoop.

Sorry because I believe you are honestly being thorough in this great priced offering.

Will there be any performance gains if I put this on my 04 WRX? Or will this only be practical if I upgrade to a bigger turbo?

You will definitely notice a difference...even with a stock turbo. By having a bigger intercooler it will help you squeeze more HP out of any future mods done to the car as well...definitely a good investment and a free bump for a good deal

Yes, the 02-03 WRXs should get a splitter and probably an STI size scoop in the future to get the most out of this IC. You can run these without the mentioned mods though. I will also check my splitter to see if it A) can be removed and B) will retro fit an early WRX.

I just want to add that I priced this conversion at the dealer about 3 months ago and this whole package he put together is cheaper then the IC from the dealer. Subarus prices are insane for this stuff. $500 is an awesome deal...if I had some money I would have jumped on this chance. Already have an STi scoop and a splitter is cheap. Another great deal missed by me.

wgknestrick - without a doubt a real bargain, I only posted to ensure that expectations were set and noone came back on you about not providing full disclosure.

Yes the IC can be installed and fit by removing a WRX splitter and retaining the scoop. An STi splitter and scoop can be added later. You are offering a bargain that even with a seperate purchase of those items can't be beat.

On 02/03 I am not sure if the surface core size or location is off, but I am sure that the JDM STi splitter will be real close to a good fit.

Just an update with more info:

I just ordered the Perrin FMIC and 2 Defi gauges in a package from RallySport: total damage:$1575 shipped. but a free A/F gauge is always nice.

The FMIC and gauges are on slight back order and will not be in until right after Thanksgiving, so that puts it at my house beginning to middle December. I would like to get it installed before I sell, just to make sure everything works and such. This leaves the earliest date for the exchange around middle december.

So far me and HoOn have a tentative deal, but the first $500 still takes it (IE HoOn is offering less than $500). Feel free to PM me as I am usually quick to respond.

Hmm... I thought we had a deal? I PMed you about it. So let me get this straight, if someone offered you $500 now, despite our "tentative" deal you'll sell it to the other guy?

No, you would have first chance at it, but at new offered price. Think "auction" but you have priority bidding. Just so everyone knows, STI IC is still for sale, with HoOn having the ability to match offer.

Can someone clarify which brackets are being discussed? I see no difference in the catalogs between an '04 WRX and STi brackets. The real difference should be in the I/C pipe coming off the LH side on the underside. This is spaced out a little further out on the STi than in the WRX. Other than that the I/C should, theoritically, go right in.

The Driver side bracket on a WRX and STI are probably the same, but the one by the turbo (pass side) should be different. I don't see how it could be anything besides the bracket being different that is causing fitment problems. (maybe user error too). STI uses the WRX intake manifold (painted red though), WRX airbox, WRX turbo inlet, wrx turbo back, wrx sized uppipe, etc. Everything that pipes into the IHI turbo is the same between the two models, which would put the turbo in the same relative position on a WRX compared to an STI. A VF39 goes right into a WRX without problems as well so the turbo is not oddball. Has there been more than one person/thread about this? I have only found one thread about someone having problems with the fitment.

I'm not saying there can't be a problem, but we all know too well about some on the morons on NASIOC.

Can someone come up with PN#s for the passenger side brackets?

I could come up with the numbers if I was at work. I checked this for someone else here about two days ago. Like I said before, all I found different was the pipe on the LH underside so it should fit and bolt right in. I could be wrong, maybe someone who has actually done it can help clarify.
